Working in tech at Australia Post is where innovation and problem solving meets great people and agile working. You’ll work with bright people on building and maintaining products and services that you and every other Australian get to benefit from every day. Whether you’re working from our modern office or your one at home, you’ll be part of a culture of collaboration and connection, making long-lasting impact right across Australia.

About the opportunity

As Enterprise Architect – Operations & Fulfilment, you’ll own the business and technology architecture for a complex, time-critical and geographically distributed enterprise domain. You’ll connect fulfilment value streams, operational processes, data, technology and physical assets to establish a clear target state and achievable multi-year roadmap aligned to Australia Post’s organisational strategy and Enterprise Architecture Principles.

Your scope will span lodgement and order intake, collection, network planning, transport, processing, sortation, delivery, tracking and returns. You’ll connect these physical operations with scanning, mobility, telemetry, event management, automation, operational technology and advanced analytics.

You’ll own the operational capabilities required to fulfil products and services, while working across adjacent domains responsible for product and service intent and the customer-facing journey. Through capability-based planning and clear architectural trade-offs, you’ll help improve safety, service reliability, throughput, capacity, asset utilisation, customer visibility and enterprise efficiency

What you’ll deliver with us

Commercial & Strategic Priorities

  • Own the Operations & Fulfilment business and technology architecture, including its fulfilment value streams, capability model, target operating model implications and target-state direction.
  • Shape multi-year roadmaps across lodgement, collection, network planning, transport, processing, sortation, delivery, tracking, returns and operational visibility.
  • Frame strategic options and trade-offs before major investment decisions, connecting service, network, safety and operational outcomes to capability, data, platform, automation and sourcing choices.
  • Shape transport-management, facility, yard, dock, route, network-optimisation, asset-utilisation and operational-visibility capabilities.
  • Connect physical operations with scanning, mobility, tracking, telemetry, automation, operational technology and event-management platforms.
  • Develop transition architectures spanning legacy operational technology, packaged platforms, mobile devices, data platforms and partner-operated services while protecting live service continuity.
  • Align operational and fulfilment investments to Australia Post’s organisational strategy and Enterprise Architecture Principles, improving interoperability, reuse and simplification across the network.
  • Lead a virtual architecture community across the domain and provide clear direction to Principal Domain Architects, Solution Architects and strategic delivery partners.
  • Provide independent enterprise-wide advice to senior business and technology executives, the Chief Architect and relevant executive governance forums on major strategic decisions and investments.
  • Champion the responsible use of AI, automation and emerging technology to improve planning, throughput, reliability, safety and operational decision-making.

About you

You are a senior enterprise architect with deep experience shaping logistics, supply chain, transport, network operations or fulfilment strategy, target-state architecture and multi-year transformation roadmaps in large, complex organisations.

You combine strong operational-domain expertise with business architecture capability, including fulfilment value streams, capability modelling and operating-model design. You can navigate complex trade-offs across customer promise, product and service intent, order management, network operations, workforce, assets, finance, data and regulatory obligations, and translate them into clear advice for senior executives.

Your experience spans transport and network optimisation, mobility, tracking, event management, automation and operational technology. You connect architecture decisions to measurable operational outcomes while maintaining service continuity and ensuring safety, resilience, cyber security, privacy and responsible use of data and AI.

You’ll also bring

  • Experience in postal, parcel, freight, transport, aviation, manufacturing, warehousing, utilities or another asset-intensive operational environment.
  • Knowledge of postal and parcel capabilities, including lodgement, pickup, address management, sortation, linehaul, last-mile delivery, lockers, proof of delivery and reverse logistics.
  • Experience with automated facilities, materials-handling equipment, robotics, Internet of Things, operational analytics or predictive maintenance.
  • Familiarity with transport-management, enterprise-asset-management, geographic-information, workforce-management and operational-control platforms.
  • Experience applying AI and advanced analytics to demand forecasting, dynamic planning, route optimisation, asset performance or operational decision support.
  • Credibility influencing senior leaders, mentoring architects and working with delivery partners across complex operational transformation portfolios.

What else is in it for you?

  • Bring your whole self to work every day and be met by a welcoming bunch of people who respect and support you
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements, like the opportunity to work from home two days per week
  • Opportunities for growth and development through formal programs or mentorship
  • Exclusive team member discounts and offers for more cash in your pocket, evolving policies for flexible working, leave types and access to health and wellbeing resources
