Role Summary:
This is a pivotal role for a commercially astute telecommunications professional who can translate complex customer requirements into technically sound, commercially viable and operationally sustainable fibre and connectivity solutions.
Working closely with Sales, Commercial, Product, Network Engineering, Operations and external partners, you will lead the solution lifecycle from opportunity qualification and requirements discovery through solution design, feasibility assessment, commercial approval, delivery assurance and customer acceptance.
You will serve as the central point of coordination for complex enterprise opportunities, ensuring that what MetroFibre proposes and commits to customers is feasible, appropriately priced, resilient where required, and supportable throughout its service lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
Enterprise solutions and architecture
Lead technical discovery and qualification for strategic enterprise opportunities, translating customer business requirements into fit-for-purpose connectivity solutions.
Develop end-to-end solutions across fibre access, Ethernet, internet connectivity, IP VPN, voice and relevant ISP, wholesale and partner services.
Produce solution architectures, network diagrams, technical specifications, bills of materials and implementation requirements.
Validate network coverage, capacity, partner availability, build requirements, timelines, resilience and operational supportability.
Technical and commercial feasibility
Assess the technical, operational and commercial viability of complex opportunities before commitments are made.
Validate capital and operating costs, installation charges, partner costs, pricing, margins, payback and contract assumptions.
Ensure proposed solutions, SLAs, service credits, pricing and delivery commitments comply with approved commercial policies and delegated authority.
Present solution recommendations, commercial trade-offs, risks and approval requirements to relevant stakeholders.
Pre-sales leadership and tender management
Act as the senior technical-commercial partner to Sales on strategic enterprise pursuits.
Lead solution workshops, customer presentations, technical clarifications and stakeholder engagements.
Coordinate and quality-assure RFI, RFP, tender, proposal and quotation responses, ensuring accuracy, consistency and timely submission.
Enable Sales and account teams with solution narratives, reference architectures, qualification tools and product guidance.
Develop reusable solution templates, standards and knowledge-sharing resources to improve pre-sales effectiveness.
Delivery assurance and customer acceptance
Oversee strategic opportunities from approved solution through survey, build, configuration, testing, activation and customer acceptance.
Coordinate cross-functional delivery checkpoints, monitor milestones and dependencies, and proactively escalate risks, delays and scope changes.
Verify that delivered services align with the approved design, contracted scope, SLA, resilience requirements and support model.
Ensure applicable resilience measures are implemented and tested, with residual risks and exceptions appropriately documented and approved.
Coordinate issue resolution and maintain clear communication with customers and internal stakeholders.
Operational handover and continuous improvement
Ensure complete handover documentation is provided to Service Delivery, Operations and the Network Operations Centre (NOC).
Confirm operational readiness, including service demarcation, monitoring, fault management, escalation paths, partner contacts and support ownership.
Review delivery outcomes, early-life service incidents and customer feedback to identify improvements in solution design, processes, products and partner performance.
Maintain accurate opportunity, design, approval and handover records across the relevant business systems.
Qualifications Required:
A relevant diploma or degree at NQF Level 6 or above in Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, Computer or Network Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline. Equivalent demonstrable experience may be considered.
Postgraduate qualification or relevant professional certifications in networking, telecommunications, enterprise architecture, project management or commercial management. (Preffered)
Certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP, MEF Carrier Ethernet or equivalent. (Preffered)
Work Experience:
At least 8 years' relevant experience in telecommunications, fibre, ISP or ICT services, including enterprise or wholesale environments.
At least 5 years' experience in solutions architecture, pre-sales engineering or technical consulting for complex B2B connectivity opportunities.
At least 3 years' experience contributing directly to complex tenders, commercial feasibility assessments, customer presentations and cross-functional delivery or service handover.
