Mamamia exists to help women feel seen, heard and understood. That's why seven and a half million Australian women turn to us every month, across written, video and social, making us the country's largest independent women's media group. And the conversation doesn't stop there: over the years we've produced more than 60 podcasts, building the world's largest women's podcast network.

About The Role

Are you obsessed with pop culture, always ahead of what everyone is talking about, and ready to bring standout storytelling to millions of Australian women? We're looking for an experienced, creative, and plugged-in Entertainment Editor to lead our entertainment vertical. In this role, you'll pitch, write, and publish original, high-performing content spanning celebrity, reality TV, streaming, film, and books. You'll bring exclusive talent access and sharp, clicky angles to our site, own our dedicated Entertainment EDM, and create engaging short-form video for our social platforms. Working closely with our podcast and social teams-including our hit show, The Spill-you'll help shape conversations that matter to women, celebrate diverse voices, and keep Mamamia the go-to destination for smart, entertaining pop-culture coverage.

Here's some of the stuff you can expect to be doing if you join us:

  • Pitch, write, and publish high-quality, original entertainment stories, features, and sharp cultural analysis that cut through the news cycle.
  • Secure and conduct standout interviews with top local and international talent, leveraging strong industry relationships across networks, streamers, and publicists.
  • Shape and drive the entertainment editorial calendar around major cultural moments, premieres, red carpets, and TV/movie release dates.
  • Own and curate the Mamamia Entertainment EDM, crafting engaging introductions and delivering content that drives subscriber growth.
  • Create dynamic short-form video content for Mamamia's social channels (TikTok and Instagram), working with the social team to extend our stories.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with podcast, video, and social teams-especially The Spill-to identify key pop-culture properties and maximise multi-platform reach.
  • Edit and proofread copy from other writers, crafting punchy, SEO-optimised headlines and cells that capture our distinctive brand voice.
  • Monitor audience data and search trends to optimise reach, lead evergreen resell strategies, and support commercial editorial commitments.

Now, a Bit About You

  • You bring 7+ years of experience writing for a digital media publication, with an exceptional portfolio of original pop-culture and entertainment journalism.
  • You have a proven track record of landing exclusive stories, a sharp eye for clicky angles and headlines, and established relationships with publicists and talent agencies.
  • You're a confident interviewer who knows how to draw compelling, candid stories out of local and international talent across written, audio, and video formats.
  • You have hands-on experience crafting engaging social-first video content (using tools like CapCut, Canva, or Premiere Pro) and managing email newsletters.
  • You possess strong working knowledge of CMS platforms, SEO principles, and analytics tools to inform audience-first storytelling.
  • You thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment, bringing tenacity, curiosity, proactive ideas, and an open approach to feedback.
  • You're deeply aligned with Mamamia's mission to inform, entertain, and make the world a better place for women and girls.
