AECOM is seeking an experienced Environmental Transportation Growth Lead to join our dynamic team in Southern California, based in either Los Angeles or Orange, CA.
This is an exciting opportunity for a growth-oriented senior leader to spearhead the expansion of our portfolio in the Southern California region. In this role, you will have the chance to collaborate across multiple offices, drive strategic growth initiatives, and leverage AECOM’s global expertise to deliver innovative solutions for our transporation clients.
In this position you will:
- Catalyze growth of current key clients and seek opportunities to bring new clients to our EPP practice.
- Improve synergies with our local teams in the Transportation Business Line to deliver more fully integrated programs and projects with environmental services in parallel to engineering, design, or planning.
- Build out our next generation of senior practitioners in the transportation markets including transit, highways, rail, aviation, roadway, and active transportation to support projects across California.
Responsibilities of this position include:
Grow the Environmental Transportation Planning Business in Southern California:
- In collaboration with the California Environmental Transportation Planning Manager and Regional Growth Lead, develop a strategic plan for the growth of environmental planning work in the LA/Orange region that identifies greatest opportunities in the market (e.g., funding streams, key clients, market trends, etc.), leverages AECOM’s position and team, and articulates a disciplined approach to maximize growth
- Collaborate with senior staff in Southern California to understand current clients, contract vehicles, and create an engagement plan and growth strategy for those clients
- Network with existing clients to increase the volume and value of opportunities in the AECOM pipeline, focusing on maximizing existing MSAs/on-call contracts
- Partner with EPP Regional BD Leads to strategically seek out new clients to expand market presence and services
- Serve Environmental Business Line Client Lead for key LA/Orange clients
- Serve as capture manager on key opportunities including pre-positioning, win strategy, solution development, competitor analysis, and identifying resources to fully respond to the bid requirements
- Collaborate with other Southern California capture managers, client account managers, and project managers with developing Salesforce pipeline, tracking opportunities, support GNG decisions, support proposal strategy, and identify staffing needs
Cross-business line Environmental Planning liaison for LA/Orange Region
- Meet regularly with Transportation Business Line leadership to identify opportunities for EPP staff to support current projects and position for upcoming opportunities
- Identify Transportation Business Line clients/contracts to mine for environmental planning services
- Lead strategic cross-business line pursuits in partnership with other Business Lines
- Facilitate coordination of cross practice/business line collaboration to ensure winning team and technical approach during proposal development and project execution
- Serve as a key representative of the EPP practice in AECOM’s LA Metro+ organization and AECOM’s LA Initiative.
Regional Transportation Market Leadership
- Provide contract management-level oversight and execution of transportation-focused environmental planning programs and projects throughout Southern California and broader West Region
- Integrate into statewide Caltrans Client Account program and pursue Caltrans Environmental On-Call opportunities
- Advance consistent tools and technical approaches for delivering high-quality, profitable work in AECOM’s transportation sector
- Mentor mid-level environmental planning staff in the execution of transportation projects
People Leadership
- Support the growth of the team, through internal and/or external recruitment, of environmental professionals focused on supporting transportation and transit projects
- Support the development and implementation of a recruitment plan to support growth of identified key clients

Minimum Requirements:
- BS Degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Transportation Planning, or similar.
- 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in leading environmental planning projects for California and Federal transportation agencies.
- A valid driver’s license is required, along with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check in accordance with company policy.
- Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in an environmental or business management related field.
- 15+ years of relevant experience supporting or delivering transportation infrastructure projects and programs.
- Deep knowledge of California and federal environmental planning and permitting regulations and processes.
- Experience leading environmental planning projects for California and Federal transportation agencies.
- Business development acumen, including experience leading large, multidisciplinary proposal efforts.
- People leadership experience and skills.
- Project management and project financial management acumen.
- Strong team collaboration and communication skills.
- Relocation is not available for this position.
