Duration: Approximately 2 months (November through December 2026)

InterScripts is seeking a senior, Epic-certified Health Information Management (HIM) consultant to provide interim coverage for a pediatric health system client during a planned absence of its lead HIM analyst. The consultant will sustain day-to-day Epic HIM operations and serve as the primary mentor and trainer for a newly hired analyst, ensuring the client team is self-sufficient by the end of the engagement. This is an experienced-level role; candidates must be able to operate independently from day one.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide interim ownership of the Epic HIM application, including build, maintenance, and production support across HIM workflows.
- Train and mentor a net-new HIM analyst through structured knowledge transfer, hands-on build sessions, and guided ticket resolution.
- Develop practical training artifacts, including build guides, workflow documentation, and a knowledge-transfer checklist that remains with the client team.
- Support and troubleshoot HIM workflows, including Deficiency Tracking, Chart Completion, Release of Information, Coding and Abstracting, and Chart Tracking.
- Resolve incidents and service requests within agreed timeframes; triage, document, and escalate issues appropriately.
- Coordinate with HIM operations leadership, coding, and revenue cycle stakeholders to maintain compliant, efficient workflows.
- Participate in Epic upgrade, testing, and change-control activities as required during the engagement.
- Provide a written transition summary at engagement close covering open items, completed training, and recommended next steps.
Requirements
- Active Epic HIM certification (Deficiency Tracking, Release of Information, and/or Coding and Abstracting).
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on Epic HIM build and support experience in a hospital or health system environment.
- Demonstrated experience training, mentoring, or onboarding Epic analysts.
- Strong working knowledge of HIM regulatory and compliance requirements, including HIPAA and medical record retention standards.
- Ability to work independently with minimal ramp-up time and deliver results within a short engagement window.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex build concepts clearly.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Pediatric or children's hospital Epic experience.
- Experience with document imaging and scanning integrations supporting Epic HIM workflows.
- RHIA or RHIT credential.
- Prior interim, backfill, or knowledge-transfer engagements.
ENGAGEMENT TERMS
- Engagement type: 1099 independent contractor or corp-to-corp (C2C) only. W2 is not available for this position.
- Fully remote; candidate must reside and work within the United States.
- Candidate must pass a background check and complete client onboarding requirements prior to start.

Submit your résumé, active Epic certification details (application, status, and date), and two professional references to InterScripts Talent Acquisition.
