Estimator / Quantity Surveyor (Commercial) - with BuildTrend experience

Position : Estimator / QS (Commercial) Salary : $1,700 - $2,200 AUD a month Working Hours & Conditions : Australian Hours Holidays : Public holidays in AU Role Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor / Estimator with experience in commercial construction to support the preparation of tenders, cost estimates, and project pricing. This role is focused on analysing tender documentation, completing accurate material take-offs, and assisting with supplier pricing and procurement activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial construction methodologies, excellent numerical skills, and experience working with estimating and procurement software. Estimating & Tender Analysis (Primary Focus) Review and analyse tender documentation, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects Conduct quantity take-offs and material measurements from plans and specifications Identify project risks, exclusions, and cost considerations during tender review Assist in preparing competitive and accurate tender submissions Quantity Surveying & Cost Management Complete accurate quantity calculations for materials, labour, and subcontractor scopes Support budgeting, cost planning, and project feasibility assessments Monitor and maintain estimating databases and pricing schedules Assist with variation pricing and cost analysis where required Supplier & Procurement Coordination Source supplier and subcontractor pricing using ProcurePro Obtain and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors Assist with procurement planning and cost benchmarking Maintain supplier databases and pricing records Systems & Documentation Prepare and maintain estimating records within BuildTrend Ensure all project documentation is organised and accurately recorded Support process improvements across estimating and procurement workflows Assist with project handovers from estimating to delivery teams Tools & Systems BuildTrend (must / ideal) ProcurePro (preferred) Microsoft Excel Commercial construction plans and estimating software Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, or Cost Planner within commercial construction Strong experience conducting material take-offs and quantity calculations Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills High attention to detail and commercial awareness Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously Desirable Experience with BuildTrend and/or EstimateOne Experience working on commercial, industrial, or multi-residential projects Understanding of Australian construction contracts and tender processes Previous experience supporting procurement and supplier engagement Additional Information This is a high-priority role supporting a busy commercial construction team Strong focus on tender scope analysis, quantity take-offs, and estimating accuracy Opportunity to play a key role during a period of company growth and operational restructuring Ideal for a commercially minded professional who enjoys detailed analysis and contributing to project success from the pre-construction stage
