League One Volleyball (LOVB) is reimagining women's sports. Launched in 2019, our company is a mission-led sports performance, training and media enterprise that will change the game of volleyball in the USA and empower new generations of female athletes.

It is a groundbreaking time for volleyball in the US with our historic triple Olympic Gold medals in Women's Indoor, Beach and Sitting Volleyball. Volleyball is already the #1 most played girls' youth sport. There are 38M current and former players today. Of major sports, it's the only one that is women-first (~90% of players are female). But the volleyball market has been almost entirely missed by traditional sports investors, brands, and media.

Title: Event Operations Manager, LOVB Miami

Department: Marketing

Reports To: VP, Marketing & Fan Experience

Direct Reports: No full-time direct reports; oversees game day staff, volunteers, and third-party vendors

Key Partners: Ticketing, Partnerships, Business Operations; LOVB League operations teams

Location: Hybrid, based in Miami, FL, with regular in-office days, on-site presence at all home matches and events.


The Role

The Event Operations Manager owns the operational planning and execution of every LOVB Miami event, from home matches to year-round community and partner events. Reporting to the VP, Marketing & Fan Experience, this individual serves as Facility Administrator on match days, leads game day staff and contractors, and ensures every fan, athlete, partner, and staff member has a safe, seamless, and memorable experience. This is a full-time, year-round role.


What You’ll Own

Facility Administration:

  • Own all areas of event execution and serve as the primary on-site contact for LOVB Miami home competitions, managing bookings, contracts, venue staffing, services, and post-event settlement in partnership with the VP.
  • Develop and maintain venue-specific standard operating procedures and game day playbooks, including floor plans, load-in/load-out timelines, run-of-show, room assignments, concourse activations, staffing plans, catering, credentialing, and security coordination.
  • Serve as the point of contact for teams, media, LOVB staff, and volunteers before, during, and after each competition, and provide detailed facility information to external partners to ensure activations and production needs are met.
  • Communicate event logistics to LOVB Central Staff ahead of each competition and ensure all league requirements are fulfilled.
  • Source and manage third-party vendors for staffing, security, rentals, and production as needed.
  • Assist in creation and implementation of Emergency Action Plans (EAPs).


Volleyball Operations at Events:

  • Coordinate with Pro Operations on the training and scheduling of on-court game day staff and volunteers, including ball crew and floor wipers.
  • Coordinate competition-day setup of team areas and ensure all tasks meet established league standards.
  • Develop home event plans that integrate production timelines, staffing, and team logistics.
  • Participate in post-event evaluation meetings with Central Staff, events staff, and Directors of Volleyball Operations (DOVO).


Year-Round Events & Planning:

  • Provide operational support for offseason and non-match events, including season launch events, open practices, and community events.
  • In partnership with the President, lead next-season operational planning, including venue calendar, vendor agreements, staffing models, and equipment needs.
  • Recruit, onboard, and maintain a pool of game day staff, contractors, and volunteers.


Event Administration:

  • Build and manage event budgets and execute all events and matches within approved financial parameters.
  • Manage the local storage facility, including inventory, equipment maintenance, shipping and receiving, and organization.
  • Coordinate logistics of equipment delivery, install, and return to storage.
  • Deliver post-event reporting, operational analysis, and process recommendations.
  • Deliver all events with a focus on sustainability and reuse.


Fan Experience:

  • In partnership with the VP of Marketing & Fan Experience, optimize the in-venue fan journey, from arrival and entry through concourse, seating, and exit, identifying and resolving friction points.
  • Partner with the rest of the marketing team to operationally support match day promotions, theme nights, giveaways, and fan engagement elements.
  • Partner with Partnerships to operationally execute sponsor activations, signage, and hospitality to contracted standards.
  • Review fan feedback and operational data from match to match to continuously raise the bar on the match day experience.


What You Bring

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in sports or live event management, operations, or coordination required.
  • Facility operations experience, including working directly with arena or venue management.
  • Experience managing game day staff, contractors, and/or volunteers.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with complete confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent communication skills that stay clear, calm, and professional under pressure.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, operate standard office and event equipment, and stand for extended periods.
  • Availability to work nights and weekends and all home venue competitions between January and April.


Preferred

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish and/or Portuguese
  • Strong budget management and vendor negotiation skills
  • Background in volleyball or familiarity with indoor sports environments
  • Familiarity with Miami venues and vendors

  • Flawless match day execution: events start on time, run-of-show is followed, and league standards are met
  • Safe events, with zero major safety incidents and Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) executed as planned when needed
  • Timely post-event reporting with clear, acted-on recommendations
  • Sponsor activations and hospitality delivered at 100% of contracted obligations
  • Strong relationships with the venue, league, and vendors, reflected in partner feedback and smooth settlements
