POSITION SUMMARY
Nurp is seeking an experienced Execution Engineer to build, operate, and improve the live execution infrastructure supporting our algorithmic trading strategies across futures and cryptocurrency markets. In this role, you will be responsible for translating strategy signals into reliable, cost efficient trade execution while maintaining system stability, execution quality, and strict risk controls.
This is an opportunity for a hands-on engineer with experience in live trading systems to take ownership of critical execution infrastructure within a small, technically focused team. You will work closely with quantitative research and engineering to optimize order execution, improve trading efficiency, and ensure the reliability of systems operating with real capital. The role focuses on mid frequency algorithmic trading rather than high frequency trading, although experience in high frequency environments can be valuable.
The position offers competitive compensation alongside a meaningful revenue share bonus, providing an opportunity to participate directly in the value created by the trading systems you are a part of building and optimizing.
ABOUT YOUR COMPANY
Nurp builds smart trading algorithms that help people trade more effectively across multiple markets, including FX, Commodities and Crypto. We’re reshaping the way people invest by using powerful, data driven technology instead of outdated methods. At Nurp, we’re focused on growth, both in the markets we serve and in the people we hire. This is a place for driven, results oriented individuals who want to take ownership, learn quickly, and make an impact. You’ll work alongside a talented team, contribute to meaningful projects, and help shape the future of algorithmic trading. We move fast and wear many hats, creating constant opportunities for personal and professional growth.
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
Build, maintain, and extend the Company's live trade execution systems, including order management, broker and exchange connectivity, and integrations with additional trading venues.
Ensure strategy signals are translated into accurate and reliable orders and fills across supported futures and cryptocurrency markets.
Develop and maintain systems for order tracking, position management, PnL reconciliation, and futures contract rolls.
Monitor live trading systems and respond promptly to operational incidents, including exchange or broker disconnections, rejected orders, unexpected positions, and reconciliation discrepancies.
Investigate production incidents, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and develop preventative measures to reduce the likelihood of recurring issues.
Design, implement, and optimize execution logic, including passive and aggressive order placement, order slicing, and routing across available trading venues.
Evaluate execution quality using relevant metrics, including slippage, fill rates, trading fees, and transaction costs, and identify opportunities to improve trading efficiency.
Collaborate with quantitative research to communicate execution findings and provide feedback on how execution performance affects strategy results.
Implement and maintain risk controls covering order sizes, position limits, price validation, and other execution related parameters.
Maintain reliable kill switches and other safeguards to stop or restrict trading when predefined risk thresholds or operational conditions are breached.
Develop and maintain production monitoring, alerting, automated testing, and validation processes to support system reliability.
Ensure accurate reconciliation of orders, fills, positions, and PnL between internal systems and external brokers or exchanges.
Maintain clear technical documentation covering system behavior, operational procedures, incident handling, and execution workflows.
Adhere to the Company's standard operating procedures, security requirements, risk management practices, and engineering standards.
Remain accountable for the reliability, accuracy, and continuous improvement of assigned execution systems.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
