Head of Planning

At MG OMD, we're entering an exciting new chapter. With an ambitious and freshly energised leadership team, a strong planning heritage and a belief in the power of media to drive real business impact, we're looking for a Head of Planning to help shape what's next.

As a member of the MG OMD Board, you'll define the agency's planning vision, champion planning excellence and lead a talented community of planners to deliver innovative, insight-led work for some of the UK's most recognised brands. You'll work closely with senior agency leaders to evolve our planning craft, strengthen client partnerships and ensure we continue to set the standard for strategic media planning across the industry.

What you'll be doing

  • Setting the vision and standards for planning across the agency.
  • Leading and developing a high-performing planning team and fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Driving innovative, audience-first communications planning that solves complex business challenges.
  • Partnering with senior clients to build trusted relationships and deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • Working closely with Strategy, Marketing Intelligence and Leadership teams to strengthen MG OMD's planning proposition and market reputation.
  • Supporting new business activity, agency growth and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Ensuring planning excellence across all channels, platforms and emerging technologies.

What we're looking for

We're interested in experienced planning leaders who bring:

  • A strong track record of leading planning teams within a media agency environment.
  • Deep knowledge of the UK media landscape and a passion for the craft of planning.
  • The ability to build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders.
  • Experience developing strategic, commercially effective communications plans.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on coaching, developing and empowering others.
  • Curiosity about innovation, data, technology and AI, and how these can enhance planning effectiveness.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to influence across teams and disciplines.
