Make an Impact as an Executive Director, Project Management at Worldwide
As an Executive Director, Project Management, you will play a pivotal leadership role overseeing project management activities within a therapeutic group while driving the successful delivery of complex global clinical research programs. Your leadership will directly influence project execution, client satisfaction, operational excellence, and financial performance across a diverse portfolio of studies.
This role offers the opportunity to lead and develop high-performing project management professionals while partnering with senior leadership to shape business strategy, support growth initiatives, and strengthen long-term sponsor relationships. You'll serve as a trusted leader both internally and externally, helping ensure projects are delivered with quality, efficiency, and a focus on meeting client expectations.
Working across global teams and stakeholders, you will balance strategic oversight, operational leadership, financial accountability, and business development responsibilities while supporting Worldwide's commitment to advancing clinical research.
Where You'll Work
This is a REMOTE role open to candidates based in North America or Europe. You will collaborate with global teams across multiple time zones.
Travel is required on an as-needed basis, including domestic and international travel.
What You'll Do
- Lead and provide strategic direction to the Project Management team within a therapeutic or sub-therapeutic area.
- Oversee the successful delivery, financial performance, and operational execution of assigned global clinical research projects.
- Drive project planning, performance monitoring, and adherence to established timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.
- Review and approve the strategy, content, and costing of new business proposals while supporting business growth initiatives.
- Partner with senior leadership on business development activities and client engagement strategies.
- Build, strengthen, and maintain effective sponsor relationships, serving as a key point of contact for alliance partnerships when assigned.
- Lead project and sponsor reviews, proactively identifying and resolving issues to maintain high levels of client satisfaction.
- Manage, mentor, recruit, develop, and evaluate project management staff while ensuring resource utilization targets are achieved.
- Represent Worldwide in capability presentations, bid defenses, and other client-facing activities.
What You'll Bring
- University or college degree in a life science discipline preferred, or certification in a related allied health profession, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 12 years of global clinical pharmaceutical industry experience, including at least 8 years of clinical project management and people management experience.
- Demonstrated success leading and line managing staff within a global, matrixed environment.
- Proven experience managing global Dementia programs and complex clinical research projects.
- Strong financial management and analytical skills, including budget oversight and project financial performance management.
- Ability to build trusted client relationships and negotiate effectively with sponsors and stakeholders.
- Broad knowledge of the drug development process, clinical research principles, and client needs.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal; fluency in the local office language is also required.
