Are you looking for a role that offers variety, challenge, visibility and genuine influence?

Do you want to take the next step into executive leadership, broaden your experience and play a key role in shaping the direction of a high-performing branch.

If you are ready to shape the future of sectors that impact millions of people across NSW, we want to hear from you!

NSW Fair Trading is committed to protecting consumers, supporting businesses and ensuring confidence in NSW marketplaces.

The Strata and Property Services Branch is responsible for overseeing the regulation, policy development and delivery of services across the strata, property, retirement village and land lease community sectors. Our work supports consumer confidence, industry professionalism and strong regulatory outcomes for millions of people who live, work and invest in NSW.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Executive Officer to provide strategic, executive and business support to senior leadership while driving operational excellence, governance, business planning and organisational initiatives.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the centre of a high-profile regulatory and policy environment, contributing to significant reforms, stakeholder engagement programs and strategic initiatives that shape the future of the property sector in NSW.

About the Role

The Executive Officer is a key leadership support position responsible for providing high-level executive, secretariat and project support services.

Partnering directly with the Strata and Property Services Commissioner and Branch Executive Team, you will help to shape strategic decisions, influence priorities and drive outcomes across a diverse and high-profile portfolio.

The role is responsible for leading financial planning, budgeting and reporting processes across the Branch and ensuring delivery of business outcomes and initiatives, with a particular focus on Government priorities and reform initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Office of the Strata and Property Services Commissioner team and manage the delivery of executive support services.
  • Coordinate strategic planning, business reporting and governance activities.
  • Lead financial management processes for the Branch, including budgeting, forecasting and workforce planning.
  • Lead and contribute to projects and transformation programs that enable organisational and regulatory outcomes.
  • Foster collaboration across teams and promote a high-performing, customer-focused and outcomes-driven culture.

About You

We are looking for someone who thrives on complexity, enjoys bringing order to ambiguity and can turn ideas into action. You might come from a strategy, governance, policy, finance, executive support or program delivery background, but what sets you apart is your ability to see the bigger picture while ensuring the details are delivered.

You'll be someone who:

  • Can confidently engage with senior executives, government stakeholders and industry leaders.
  • Enjoys leading projects and coordinating complex pieces of work from concept through to delivery.
  • Has strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets, track performance and inform decision-making.
  • Is highly organised and can keep multiple priorities moving while maintaining quality and momentum.
  • Can transform information into clear, compelling advice that helps leaders make informed decisions.
  • Builds strong relationships and influences outcomes through collaboration rather than authority.
  • Enjoys leading people, developing capability and creating a positive, high-performing team culture.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience providing strategic advice, executive support and financial and budgeting advice to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.

Why Join NSW Fair Trading?

We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference. You'll have the opportunity to work on strategic reforms, support major regulatory programs, strengthen how we operate as a branch and help shape the future of strata and property services in NSW.

Applying for the Role

To apply, submit:

  • A current resume (maximum five pages) outlining your skills and experience.
  • A cover letter (maximum two pages) demonstrating your suitability for the role and addressing the key capabilities and experience requirements.
