  • McCutcheon Halley is recruiting an Executive Planning Consultant to join our Dublin team.

  • This is an opportunity for an ambitious planning professional who wants to take greater ownership of projects, broaden their experience and play an active role in delivering development across Ireland.

We work on a diverse portfolio of projects spanning residential and mixed-use development, commercial development, renewable energy, strategic infrastructure and regeneration. Our work ranges from complex planning applications and appeals to strategic planning advice and development promotion.

You will work closely with experienced senior planners and multidisciplinary project teams, with the opportunity to manage projects, advise clients and contribute to planning strategies from the earliest stages through to decision.

We are looking for someone who enjoys the challenge of planning consultancy, brings sound professional judgement and is ready to develop their career in a supportive and ambitious team.

    The Role

As an Executive Planning Consultant, you will:

    • Manage a varied portfolio of planning projects, coordinating applications, appeals and associated planning processes from inception to completion.

    • Provide planning advice to clients, identifying opportunities, constraints and appropriate planning strategies.

    • Prepare planning reports, statements, submissions, appeals and other technical planning documentation.

    • Work closely with architects, engineers, environmental specialists and other consultants on multidisciplinary projects.

    • Liaise with planning authorities, An Coimisiún Pleanála and other statutory bodies.

    • Lead and participate in project meetings, including direct engagement with clients and stakeholders.

    • Identify planning risks, evaluate options and contribute to practical, commercially informed solutions.

    • Assist in preparing fee proposals and managing project programmes and budgets.

    • Support and mentor graduate and early-career planners.

    • Contribute to business development and the continued growth of the Dublin office.

    About You

We would like to hear from candidates who have:

    • A degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline, preferably accredited by the IPI or RTPI.

    • At least 3 years' relevant professional planning experience, ideally including experience in a planning consultancy.

    • A strong understanding of the Irish planning system, legislation, policy and procedures.

    • Experience preparing planning applications, reports and submissions.

    • Strong analytical, written communication and problem-solving skills.

    • The confidence to engage effectively with clients, planning authorities and multidisciplinary teams.

    • The ability to manage competing priorities, take ownership of work and deliver to deadlines.

    • A proactive, collaborative approach and an interest in continuing professional development.

Professional membership of the IPI or RTPI, or progress towards membership, would be an advantage.

Experience with GIS, CAD or other digital planning tools, including emerging AI-assisted applications, would also be welcome.

    What We Offer

At McCutcheon Halley, you will have the opportunity to build your career while working on projects that present interesting and varied planning challenges.

    We offer:

    • A diverse and interesting project portfolio across a range of development sectors.

    • Direct involvement in projects and meaningful client engagement.

    • Close collaboration with experienced senior planners and other industry professionals.

    • Opportunities to take responsibility, develop your professional judgement and progress towards a senior planning role.

    • A supportive, collaborative working environment where initiative and ideas are valued.

    • Flexible hybrid working arrangements based in our Dublin office.

    • A competitive salary and benefits package.
