About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy delivering client and industry driven solutions through our 5 core specialist Practices; Software Engineering, Data & Analytics, IT Operations, Change & Transformation, and Risk, Regulation & Compliance.

FDM is seeking a Experienced Software Developer located in Toronto to support a project in the Banking & Capital Markets sector. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 12 months but may be extended.

This role will be hybrid with requirements to be in office 3 days per week.

We are seeking hands-on developers with experience building and supporting enterprise applications within financial services. Potential projects include digital banking, payments integration, capital markets platforms, wealth technology, and application modernization.

What you’ll do

  • Design, develop, test, and support enterprise applications and services.
  • Build APIs and integrations connecting applications, databases, and business platforms.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, QA, and DevOps teams across the development lifecycle.
  • Contribute to code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and production releases.
  • Troubleshoot issues and improve application performance, reliability, and security.

About You

What you’ll bring

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in one or more core development stacks, such as Java/Spring Boot, C#/.NET, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience delivering technology within banking, capital markets, payments, wealth management, or related financial services.
  • Experience with APIs, systems integration, SQL, and relational databases.
  • Familiarity with Git, automated testing, CI/CD, and Agile delivery.
  • Experience working within large, cross-functional teams, with ownership of development work through production.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder collaboration skills.

Additional experience we value

  • Backend engineering: microservices, distributed systems, Kafka, or other messaging technologies.
  • Full-stack development: React or Angular alongside backend development.
  • Cloud delivery: AWS or Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, and deployment automation.
  • Financial platforms: trading, clearing and settlement, securities processing, collateral, payments, or wealth systems.
  • Modernization: application migrations, legacy-platform integration, and automation.
  • Applied AI: LLM integrations, RAG, agentic workflows, or AI-assisted software delivery.
