Job Description This is a remote position. Expert DevOps & Observability operations (m/f/d) ID 27142-11 Task / Activity description The client intends to procure a service covering Kubernetes platforms, cloud-native application operations, DevOps, observability, and operational readiness. The requested services must deliver concrete recommendations concerning the establishment of a sustainable cloud-native application operations model for an application on an internal Kubernetes platform, including operational processes, observability, incident management, DevOps enablement, and knowledge transfer, ensuring a successful transition into productive operation and long-term operational stability. 1. Application Operations, L2 Support and Monitoring • Execute platform changes, upgrades, maintenance activities, and restoration measures according to approved procedures, including implementation records and execution documentation. • Configure, enhance, and maintain platform observability capabilities, including metrics, logs, distributed tracing, health checks, monitoring dashboards, alerting rules, and related operational documentation. • Deliver analyses of operational anomalies, incident records, root cause analyses (RCA), restoration recommendations, and documented improvement requirements for application operations and observability. • Create and maintain operational playbooks, standard operating procedures, incident handling guides, escalation criteria, and knowledge artifacts for known issues and standard solutions. 2. Operational Governance, Documentation and Knowledge Transfer • Configure and deliver platform observability and security components, including implementation documentation and configuration records. • Create and maintain operational documentation, including analyses, decision records, handover packages, and an Operational Manual covering all supported environments. • Develop and deliver operational governance guidelines, training materials, and knowledge transfer packages, including documented training sessions and supporting artifacts. Goal The objective of this service request is to make the transition of the application to the new infrastructure and to establish and execute a sustainable cloud-native application operations model for productive operations. Targets and Milestones (to be reached by end of Q3 2027) - Production Readiness – Prepare the application for productive operation on the new infrastructure. - Operational Excellence – Establish state-of-the art monitoring, alerting and support processes. - Service Reliability – Support stable operation through monitoring, observability, and incident management. - Scalability and Maintainability – Support automation, transparency, and operational efficiency. - Knowledge Transfer and operational excellence – Create operational manuals and playbooks to enable operational ownership. Requirements Must haves: • DevOps (8+ years) experience working with containerized Java application services and servers • Profound knowledge of Grafana LGTM stack (Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Mimir, Tempo) • Profound knowledge of Kubernetes infrastructure • Profound knowledge of ArgoCD or equivalent continuous deployment tools • Profound knowledge and experience with Incident- and Problem management • Experience in Shell scripting (for Windows PowerShell & Linux) • Experience with Splunk • Language skills: English (C1) and German (C1) are necessary Should haves: - Profound understanding of deployment concepts for complex microservice-oriented Java application platforms - Experience with Development of Applications - Experience with L2 Support of complex business applications. - Experience in creating and maintaining operations playbooks - Experience in IT provider management, IT monitoring and IT operations management - Experience with: o Kafka o MySQL o PostgreSQL o SPARK o Harness o Helm o JFrog Artifactory o Azure DevOps o OpenTelemetry
