About This Opportunity
We’re working with a leading AI lab that needs experienced mechanical design engineers to review a set of engineering drawing packages and CAD models for quality and realism.
Each package is a small mechanical product: engineering drawings, part and assembly models, a bill of materials etc. Your job is to review it the way a drawing-office checker would and tell us whether it is complete, consistent and something a real engineering team would issue.
What You’ll Do
Commitment: Up to 10 hours, with the possibility of this being extended
Location: Fully remote, work on your own schedule
Start date: ASAP

Each package is a small mechanical product: engineering drawings, part and assembly models, a bill of materials etc. Your job is to review it the way a drawing-office checker would and tell us whether it is complete, consistent and something a real engineering team would issue.
What You’ll Do
- Check drawings for completeness and ambiguity: views, dimensions, datums, tolerances and notes
- Judge whether the design is realistic: manufacturable parts, sensible fits and hardware, mechanisms that work as described
- Check CAD models and feature trees against the drawings and the parts list
- Write short, specific findings with a clear pass / fix / reject call
Commitment: Up to 10 hours, with the possibility of this being extended
Location: Fully remote, work on your own schedule
Start date: ASAP
Key Requirements
- 5+ years as a mechanical or product design engineer, with your name on drawings and assemblies released for manufacture
- Fluent in at least one parametric CAD package (SolidWorks, NX, Creo, Fusion 360, Onshape or FreeCAD) and willing to work in FreeCAD
- Confident reading and critiquing engineering drawings to ISO or ASME conventions: GD&T, fits, datums, section and detail views
- Practical knowledge of machining, sheet metal, castings and standard hardware, and of what a real drawing office would and would not issue
- Experience checking or approving other engineers’ drawings is a strong plus
- Clear, concise written feedback and attention to detail
