Expert Sourcing Manager (permanent position)
Bring your technology expertise and negotiation skills to sourcing decisions that matter.
As an Expert Technology Sourcing Manager in our growing and ambitious Sourcing Team, you will lead complex deals, influence key stakeholders and turn commercial insight into measurable savings and lasting value. With 12+ years of relevant experience, you know how to secure strong outcomes across software, cloud and technology services while balancing business needs, contractual commitments and risk.
You will take the lead on strategically important technology sourcing projects. Working alongside Technology, business stakeholders and specialist control functions, you will turn complex requirements into clear sourcing strategies and negotiate sustainable commercial outcomes. This is a role for someone who enjoys ownership, collaboration and the pace of working across the Nordics.
Bring your expertise—and keep building it. We invest heavily in training our team, giving you opportunities to grow your skills and career as we develop innovative, better and more cost-effective ways to deliver banking services.
About our team
We work side by side with Business Units to turn technology sourcing opportunities into tangible results: cost savings, more efficient processes and lasting value, with regulatory compliance integral to everything we do.
Collaboration. Ownership. Passion. Courage. These are the values that guide us in how we work and how we make decisions – and that we imagine you share with us.
The impact you will make:
- Lead negotiations that deliver measurable savings and lasting value. Own the negotiation strategy across pricing, licensing, consumption commitments, renewals, service levels and exit arrangements, aligning commercial and contractual positions with key stakeholders.
- Deliver complex technology sourcing projects from end to end. Turn business requirements into sourcing strategies and lead market engagement, competitive tendering, supplier evaluation, negotiation, contracting and handover, in accordance with Nordea Procurement Policy and regulatory requirements.
- Turn commercial insight into stronger sourcing outcomes. Use spend, licence and consumption data, market research and total cost of ownership models to challenge supplier proposals, test assumptions and identify sustainable savings.
- Build stakeholder alignment and address risk. Partner with Technology, business owners, Legal, Information Security, Risk and supplier management colleagues to clarify requirements, assess supplier and contractual risks, and agree sourcing priorities and decisions.
- Enable clear, confident sourcing decisions. Present evidence-based recommendations to Steering Committees and other mandated decision-making bodies, making supplier options, commercial trade-offs, risks and expected value easy to understand.
- Shape a proactive technology sourcing pipeline. Engage early on demand, renewals and supplier dependencies, align priorities with Nordea’s objectives and drive better sourcing practices.
- Strengthen the team’s sourcing expertise. Coach and mentor Sourcing colleagues, sharing practical technology knowledge, negotiation approaches and commercial analysis.
Who you are
This is the right role for you if you:
- Enjoy getting beneath the surface of a technology deal—understanding the business need, testing assumptions and finding a stronger commercial outcome.
- Bring curiosity, sound judgement and the confidence to challenge constructively.
- Take ownership when requirements are unclear, keep competing priorities moving and make complex issues easy to understand.
- Above all, you build collaborative relationships, speak up when it matters and share what you know.
The expertise you will bring:
- Confident contract negotiation: strong skills across commercial schedules, service levels, audit rights, data protection, intellectual property, liability, termination and exit provisions, working closely with Legal and relevant specialists.
- A track record of delivering results: strong end-to-end sourcing and project management skills, from translating business requirements into sourcing strategies to running competitive tenders, evaluating suppliers and leading complex negotiations that deliver measurable savings and value.
- Commercial insight and influence: the analytical skills to build total cost of ownership models, test pricing scenarios and challenge supplier proposals, combined with the stakeholder management skills to influence decisions across Technology, Finance, Legal and business teams.
- Technology commercial expertise: practical knowledge of software licensing, SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, on-premises solutions and AI-enabled products, including subscription and consumption-based pricing, licence metrics, usage rights, renewals and supplier lock-in.
- An international, collaborative approach: experience working across functions and cultures, building trusted relationships, resolving competing priorities and coordinating complex projects across locations.
- Sound risk judgement: the ability to identify third-party, information security, outsourcing and operational resilience considerations, and engage the appropriate control functions to address requirements and risks.
- Clear, confident communication in fluent written and spoken English—whether drafting sourcing documents, negotiating with suppliers or presenting concise recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Depth of experience: 12+ years of relevant experience, including at least 10 years of commercial experience in a multi-stakeholder environment, with substantial hands-on technology sourcing and supplier negotiation experience.
- A degree in Law, Business, Economics, Operations, Supply Chain Management or a similar discipline.
