About the Company

Our client is an established US-based accounting and auditing firm providing professional accounting, auditing and financial services to a diverse portfolio of clients. They are seeking an experienced External Auditor to join their team and assist with conducting client audits, ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance and adherence to applicable auditing standards.

About the Role

The External Auditor will be responsible for supporting and conducting external audit engagements for the firm's clients. This role requires a strong understanding of auditing principles, financial reporting, internal controls and audit procedures, together with the ability to analyse financial information, identify discrepancies and prepare comprehensive audit documentation.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical and comfortable working independently in a remote environment while collaborating with the firm's US-based team.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct external audits for a portfolio of clients across various industries.
• Plan and execute audit procedures in accordance with applicable auditing standards.
• Examine financial statements, accounting records, supporting documentation and transactions.
• Test internal controls and assess financial reporting processes.
• Perform substantive testing, reconciliations and analytical reviews.
• Identify financial discrepancies, risks, irregularities and potential areas of non-compliance.
• Gather and evaluate audit evidence to support audit findings and conclusions.
• Prepare and maintain detailed audit working papers and supporting documentation.
• Assist with the preparation of audit reports and communicate findings to senior team members.
• Liaise with clients to request documentation, clarify financial information and resolve audit queries.
• Ensure audit engagements are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
• Maintain knowledge of relevant accounting principles, auditing standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Auditing or a related field.
• Professional accounting or auditing qualification (CPA, CA, ACCA or equivalent) would be advantageous.
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant external audit experience.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and US auditing standards (GAAS).
• Experience conducting financial statement audits and working with multiple client engagements.
• Knowledge of internal controls, audit testing and financial reporting.
• Strong financial analysis and reconciliation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/audit software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
• Comfortable working remotely and aligning with US business hours.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in public accounting or an external audit firm, with practical experience conducting end-to-end financial statement audits for external clients. They should be confident reviewing financial records, testing controls, preparing audit working papers and communicating audit findings.
