The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Global Logistics Industrial Engineer, you will play a key role in advancing 3M’s international logistics performance, control tower integration, partners excellence, and transportation productivity capabilities. You will lead initiatives that standardize data integration, improve operational visibility, strengthen performance monitoring, and enable continuous improvement across transportation and third-party logistics operations. This role will focus on validating and implementing standardized performance management programs, optimizing 3PL contracts, integrating operational data into the transportation control tower, and delivering measurable productivity and cost improvements. You will partner closely with Logistics, 3PL providers, IT, Procurement, Finance, Manufacturing, Distribution, Transportation Operations, and regional teams to ensure solutions are scalable, adopted, and translated into realized business value.

Your Skills and Expertise

  • Lead transportation control tower integration efforts, including data connectivity across carriers, shipments, warehouses, 3PLs, and operational performance sources.
  • Developing and implementing standardized performance monitoring processes, dashboards, KPIs, and exception management routines.
  • Supporting 3PL Excellence initiatives, including contract standardization, supplier scorecards, productivity programs, service-level monitoring, and performance governance.
  • Validating and deploying standardized performance management programs to improve international transportation productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Applying industrial engineering, process modeling, simulation, AI and optimization techniques to improve transportation execution and 3PL performance.
  • Partnering with IT and data teams to integrate SAP TM, TMS platforms, carrier connectivity, APIs, EDI, warehouse systems, and external logistics data into scalable visibility solutions.
  • Identifying and leading continuous improvement projects that reduce logistics cost, improve service, strengthen compliance to standards, and improve operational execution.
  • Converting operational data into actionable insights that support cost reduction, productivity improvement, and better decision-making across the global logistics network.
  • Tracking value realization, communicating progress to leadership, and supporting implementation plans to ensure savings and performance targets are achieved.

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Research, Data Science, Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related field, completed and verified prior to start.
  • Minimum 5 years of combined experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, industrial engineering, distribution, operations, data analytics, logistics systems, 3PL management, or business operations.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master’s degree in industrial engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain, Logistics, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as Lean Six Sigma, PMP, APICS, CSCP, CLTD, analytics, or supply chain certification.
  • Experience leading or supporting logistics performance improvement, transportation optimization, process improvement, or operational analytics initiatives.
  • Experience working with logistics systems, data sources, or platforms such as SAP TM, TMS, WMS, ERP, carrier systems, EDI, APIs, visibility platforms, or transportation database.
  • Experience applying AI into logistics and supply chain environment is preferred.
  • Experience in designing or supporting transportation control tower capabilities, including performance visibility, exception management, carrier connectivity, and operational data integration.
  • Strong knowledge of 3PL performance management, including contract governance, supplier scorecards, service-level management, productivity tracking, and continuous improvement routines.
  • Proficiency with data analysis, automation, modeling, or visualization tools such as Excel, Power BI, SQL, Python, Alteryx, Tableau, or related technologies.
  • Understanding of transportation and logistics cost-reduction levers, including freight optimization, mode optimization, consolidation, utilization improvement, service performance, and cost-to-serve analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex logistics processes, identify root causes, develop practical solutions, and implement improvements across multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience leading global or regional projects, including stakeholder alignment, governance, project execution, change management, benefits tracking, and executive communication.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to translate technical data and operational insights into clear business recommendations.

Work location:

  • Wroclaw, PL - at least 4 days per week in office

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic and/or international travel.
