We are a team of former classroom teachers, district and school leaders, curriculum writers, and education experts unified by our desire to see every student thrive in school.
Our commitment to every learner unites us. UnboundEd works side-by-side with teachers, coaches, principals, and district leaders to ensure every student has access to grade-level, engaging, affirming, and meaningful — GLEAM™ — instruction. By cultivating the mindsets, knowledge, and skills at the heart of truly transformative teaching and learning, we can break the predictability of historic achievement patterns so all kids thrive.
In 2023, UnboundEd joined forces with Pivot Learning and CORE Learning to expand our offerings and drive long-needed changes in instruction, especially in the highest-need schools.
Position Overview
We are seeking expert contract Facilitators across our Leadership, ELA, Math, and UnboundEd Planning Process (UPP) pathways to lead Local Learning Experiences in California and the Midwest United States.
Facilitators guide educators and school leaders through interactive, standards-aligned professional development focused on actionable instructional practices that expand access and opportunity for all learners. In this role, you will deliver UnboundEd-designed learning experiences, foster collaborative professional dialogue, and adapt your facilitation to meet the needs of participating educators while keeping learning grounded in high-quality instruction.
This is a contract position. Facilitators are engaged on an event-by-event basis.
Key Responsibilities
Workshop Facilitation & Content Delivery
- Facilitate engaging, high-impact sessions for educators and school leaders across Leadership, ELA, Math, or UPP pathways during Local Learning Experiences.
- Deliver UnboundEd-designed content with fidelity, adding your own expertise and examples to deepen, not replace, the core learning.
- Present research-informed, standards-based content clearly, connecting session concepts to participants' real-world classroom and leadership practices.
- Help educators reflect on and translate workshop learning into concrete action plans for their schools and districts, using varied checks for understanding to ensure learning lands.
Adult Learning & Group Dynamics
- Create an inclusive, welcoming, and productive learning environment where adult learners feel comfortable taking risks and engaging in thoughtful dialogue.
- Guide meaningful, participant-centered discussions around effective instruction, student impact, and addressing barriers to student success.
- Encourage full participation, balance voices in the room, and ensure participants do most of the thinking and talking.
- Facilitate productive dissonance: surface and address misconceptions, redirect deficit-based language, and maintain a safe space for courageous conversations about equity.
Preparation & Professional Growth
- Thoroughly internalize session content and materials ahead of delivery and participate in required training.
- Engage openly with observation and feedback on your facilitation, and stay reflective about how your own identity and biases show up in the room.
Workshop Management & Delivery Flow
- Read the room and adjust facilitation strategies to support participant engagement, different professional roles, and session goals.
- Collaborate with co-facilitators and event support staff to maintain effective session pacing, adhere to schedules, and address logistical or technical needs seamlessly.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Teaching Experience: Minimum of 3 years of classroom teaching experience with a track record of effective instruction.
- Leadership Experience (Leadership pathway only): In addition to classroom experience, school or district leadership experience (e.g., principal, assistant principal, instructional coach, or district leader).
- Content Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in standards-aligned ELA and/or Math instruction (required); background in additional subject areas (Science, Social Studies, CTE, Fine Arts) is preferred for UPP pathway..
- Facilitation Skills: Experience facilitating adult learners, with a proven ability to lead engaging workshops, manage group dynamics, and foster open, respectful collaboration.
- Commitment to Equity: Experience with, or a strong desire to grow in, facilitating conversations about race, language, and socioeconomic status as they relate to instruction and student outcomes.
- Regional Availability: Ability and willingness to travel to deliver in-person workshops and summits in California and other Western states.
- Language Skills: Bilingual proficiency is a plus.
Compensation & Support
- Compensation: Competitive daily contract rate for session facilitation, virtual preparation, and required training.
- Travel & Accommodations: Full coverage for hotel accommodations and travel expenses associated with event delivery.
- Meal Allowance: Generous per diem for meals, in addition to meals provided during events.
