About the Opportunity
Conduct retrospective and/or prospective facility inpatient coding audits to evaluate coding accuracy, documentation support, regulatory compliance, reimbursement accuracy, and adherence to official coding guidelines and client requirements.

What You’ll Do
Complete the following functions in accordance with CodingAID policies:
- Abstract all ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS, Modifiers, POA, MS-DRG, APR-DRG and APC assignment from the medical record documentation.
- Enter data into audit software and/or audit detail report.
- Evaluate the overall quality of physician documentation to provide feedback to the client for education opportunities.
- Perform internal coder quality reviews.
- Provide recommendations to incorporate into the Executive Summary.
- Must be able to meet the minimum productivity standards.
- Must meet or exceed 95% accuracy rate on quality reviews.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of completed report to clients.
- Enter time accurately and timely into our timekeeping system.
- Review coded records to validate principal and secondary diagnoses, procedures, POA indicators, discharge disposition, DRG/APR-DRG, APC, CPT/HCPCS and modifier assignment.
- Identify coding errors, documentation deficiencies, compliance concerns and share with leadership.
- Apply official coding guidelines and regulations and payor requirements to work efforts.
- Clearly document audit rationale and provide coding references to support findings.
- Communicate audit findings and/or patterns and recommendations timely to leadership, coders and clients.
- Comply with policies regarding the use and disclosure of protected health information which includes accessing and using protected health information only to the extent necessary to fulfill the above mentioned responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and standards related to health information and coding principles.

What You’ll Bring
- Current AHIMA coding credential appropriate to the assigned audit specialty required; CCS, RHIT, or RHIA accepted for this position
- Minimum 5 years of recent facility coding experience
- Minimum 2 years of coding auditing, quality review, compliance auditing or coding education experience.
- Requires advanced technical knowledge in specific surgical and medical specialties as assigned.
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology and ability to research coding related questions.
- Must have experience with data entry of codes into a database and/or software tool.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Compensation
Salary Range: $40 - $48 per hour
Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, specialized skills, geographic location, and internal equity considerations.
