Job Description: Climate Resilience Planning and Design Intern (Part-Time, Unpaid) Location: Remote within US compatible time zones (preference for Central, Eastern, or Atlantic) Reports to: Senior Manager of Capacity Building and Coastal Resilience Planning and Grants Manage Schedule: 8-15 hours per week, depending on capacity About Anthropocene Alliance: Anthropocene Alliance (A2) is the nation’s largest coalition of frontline communities fighting for climate and environmental justice. We work with over 450 member communities across the U.S. to support grassroots leaders addressing pollution, climate change, and systemic environmental inequities. Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated, passionate Climate Resilience Planning and Design Intern to support developing clear, visually-engaging climate resilience planning and policy materials. The intern will gain hands-on experience communicating coastal resilience, nature-based solutions, and disaster preparedness concepts at a nationwide environmental justice organization. We are happy to work with colleges and universities to arrange for the internship to count as academic credit, if applicable. Benefits: Honing skills in technical writing, document design, and environmental and climate research Practical experiences communicating climate resilience and adaptation planning frameworks to broad audiences and impacted communities Opportunities to contribute to impactful, on-the-ground environmental justice campaigns Flexible schedule with remote work options Key Responsibilities: Assist in developing and designing climate resilience project plans and resources for a cohort of A2 members on the Gulf Coast. Topics include hurricane and flood preparedness, green infrastructure and nature-based solutions, toxic pollution, etc. Generate clear communication of climate adaptation concepts and visualization of data in the plans and resources Support research on policy, adaptation strategies, and funding sources to support resource/plan development Help team members with design and layout needs, primarily to support funding proposals, web communications, etc Work with the leaders of community organizations to ensure that the resources we create are accessible, understandable, and useful to their organization and wider audience. To apply for this position, you must have a personal computer that can run Canva using A2’s organizational license or InDesign or another graphic design platform using your own license. Preferred Qualifications: Interest in climate justice, environmental justice, climate mapping, hazards mitigation Excellent design, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Experience designing reports that communicate research, planning processes, or policy Proficiency with Canva and/or InDesign to generate technical reports or longer documents Self-starter with strong time management, creativity, and professionalism Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects Experience with or connection to frontline (environmental injustice/climate change) communities strongly encouraged How to Apply: Send your resume, cover letter, and at least one example of past design work (ideally a report, deck, or other design) you would like to share via TriNet: https://app.trinethire.com/companies/251117-anthropocene-alliance-inc/jobs/124208-fall-climate-resilience-planning-and-design-intern
