Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) Adviser | 11492 | Fixed Term Contract until 31 March 2029 | 37 hours per week | £41,177 to £43,149 per annum (Scale J) | Based across the Norfolk Coast National Landscape / Hybrid Working
The Norfolk Coast is a nationally important landscape, valued for its wildlife, habitats, farming heritage and the opportunities it provides for people to connect with nature.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) Adviser to lead delivery of the FiPL programme for the Norfolk Coast National Landscape. This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with farmers and land managers, helping them develop high-quality projects that deliver benefits for climate, nature, people and place.
About the role
You’ll be at the heart of the FiPL programme, building relationships with farmers, land managers and partners across the Norfolk Coast and supporting them to turn ideas into successful projects. You’ll promote the programme, identify opportunities for new projects and provide advice and guidance to applicants throughout the development of their proposals. You’ll also support the assessment panel, coordinate technical input and help ensure funded projects deliver against programme objectives and the Norfolk Coast National Landscape Management Plan 2025-30. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Building strong relationships with farmers and land managers across the Norfolk Coast.
- Identifying and developing new opportunities and supporting applicants to develop high-quality projects and funding applications.
- Work with partners to develop collaborative projects with wider environmental and community benefits.
- Support the assessment and approval of FiPL applications.
- Monitor project delivery, budgets and outcomes.
About you
We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with people and can build trust and positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You’ll have experience of working with farmers, land managers or other partners to achieve environmental objectives, alongside experience of project development and delivery. You’ll be confident communicating with different audiences, able to develop and present ideas, and comfortable working independently and managing competing priorities.
Why join us?
This is a varied and rewarding role where you’ll see the results of your work on the ground - supporting farmers and land managers to deliver projects that benefit the environment and communities across one of the country’s most important coastal landscapes. You’ll work as part of a collaborative team, while having the freedom to develop relationships, identify opportunities and bring new ideas forward. This role involves regular travel across Norfolk, including visits to farms, beaches and nature reserves, and occasional evening and weekend working.
