Show job description

Want to be part of a UK hub, in a global business that is scaling rapidly, evolving fast and radically changing the decades-old delivery universe? If so, read on, as we’re looking for a Field Business Development Manager to join our Commercial team!

Our mission? To switch up the status quo and become the UK’s leading out-of-home business. With a fast-growing network of thousands of smart lockers, hundreds of leading retail partners and the launch of our transformative Send service, we’re bringing freedom to anyone with a parcel.

At InPost UK, we’re building an unparalleled group of talent that’s committed to help us power our mission to reshape the way parcels move, and redefine eCommerce logistics. Our team is packed full of top-notch experts in e-commerce, technology, scale-up growth, sustainability, logistics and supply chain. We’re a passionate bunch with high ambition – we collaborate, innovate, support each other, and leave egos at the door.

About the role

We’re hiring a hunter to win new e-commerce and retail clients across London, the South East and the South. This is a new business role. You’ll build your territory from scratch, open doors with mid-market and larger B2C online retailers, and take each deal from first conversation through to signed agreement and go-live.

You’ll be the face of InPost in the field, building relationships from operations teams through to the C-suite, and positioning InPost as the out-of-home delivery partner of choice.

What you’ll be doing

  • Winning new business. You’ll own individual targets for client meetings, submitted offers and signed agreements.

  • Building your own pipeline. You’ll generate qualified B2C retail and e-commerce prospects through field visits, networking, referrals and digital prospecting.

  • Leading the full sales cycle. You’ll take deals from first meeting to commercial agreement and a smooth go-live.

  • Engaging multiple stakeholders. You’ll work with operations, e-commerce, supply chain, finance and commercial decision-makers.

  • Negotiating and closing. You’ll prepare compelling commercial offers and agreements and handle objections confidently.

  • Setting clients up to grow. You’ll monitor onboarding, flag upsell opportunities and hand over to Customer Success.

  • Knowing your market. You’ll track competitors and e-commerce and parcel logistics trends, and feed insight back to the business.

  • Keeping your data accurate. You’ll maintain pipeline and forecasting data in the CRM.

  • Working across the business. You’ll partner with Marketing, Operations, Finance, Legal and Customer Success.

What you’ll bring (essential)

  • Proven B2C e-commerce logistics experience, for example parcel carriers, fulfilment, last-mile delivery, delivery-management platforms or checkout/delivery solutions sold to online retailers.

  • A track record of new business development in a field-based or hybrid sales role, with evidence of meeting or exceeding new business targets.

  • A working network or existing relationships with e-commerce and retail businesses in London, the South East and the South.

  • Experience selling to multiple stakeholders in complex organisations, up to senior and C-suite level.

  • Commercial negotiation skills, including pricing and contract discussions in a B2B environment.

  • CRM experience for pipeline management and sales reporting.

  • Strong presentation and proposal skills for senior audiences.

  • Living within the territory, or able to travel across it regularly, with a full UK driving licence.

The InPost process:

We pride ourselves on our candidate experience. We want to make this as straightforward as possible, for you and for us! We will try our best to get back to you within a few days to let you know if we’d like to take you to the first stage. This normally involves a 20 minute chat with our Talent Team. If we both feel the connection, you’ll then go through another one or two stages, depending on the level of the role.

At InPost, we love uniqueness. Our strength is our people.

We strive to create an open, equal, inclusive environment in which everyone has the opportunity to flourish and be themselves.
