SOKOL GxP Services is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician – Controlled Environment Certification & Technical Services to support customers throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. This is a full-time, home-based field position requiring frequent regional travel and occasional overnight assignments. The Field Service Technician will perform certification, performance testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair services for controlled-environment systems and laboratory safety enclosures used within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, research, and other regulated environments. The technician will work directly with biological safety cabinets, cleanrooms, laminar airflow workstations, clean benches, isolators, restricted access barrier systems, pass-through chambers, chemical fume hoods, and other HEPA-filtered containment systems. Key responsibilities include: Perform certification and performance testing of Class I, II, and III biological safety cabinets. Certify laminar airflow workstations, clean benches, isolators, RABS, pass-through chambers, and other HEPA-filtered containment equipment. Conduct cleanroom certification testing in accordance with ISO 14644 requirements. Perform airborne particle counting, airflow measurements, differential pressure verification, temperature and humidity monitoring, recovery testing, and room-classification assessments. Certify chemical fume hoods, ducted laboratory hoods, perchloric acid hoods, balance enclosures, and containment ventilated enclosures. Execute HEPA filter integrity testing using aerosol photometers and challenge aerosol generators. Conduct airflow velocity profiling, volumetric airflow measurements, face velocity testing, containment evaluations, smoke visualization studies, and airflow-pattern assessments. Troubleshoot airflow, containment, mechanical, electrical, and control-related performance issues. Operate and maintain specialized certification and testing instruments. Verify equipment functionality and calibration status before field deployment. Maintain service tools, spare parts, consumables, calibration records, and testing-equipment inventories. Analyze certification results against applicable standards, manufacturer specifications, and customer requirements. Prepare detailed certification reports, field-service reports, repair documentation, calibration records, and technical recommendations. Document deficiencies, non-conformances, corrective actions, and completed repairs. Communicate findings, deficiencies, and recommendations clearly to customers. Represent SOKOL GxP Services professionally during on-site customer engagements. Services must be performed in accordance with applicable requirements, including NSF/ANSI 49, ISO 14644, USP <797>, USP <800>, regulatory and safety requirements, and company quality standards. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience performing certification, testing, maintenance, or repair of controlled-environment systems, laboratory containment devices, or cleanroom equipment. Direct experience certifying or servicing controlled-environment equipment such as: Biological safety cabinets; HEPA-filtered systems; Laminar airflow workstations; Cleanrooms;; Restricted access barrier systems; Laboratory containment equipment; Demonstrated experience using controlled-environment certification instrumentation. Strong understanding of airflow principles, HEPA filtration, contamination control, and cleanroom operations. Ability to read technical drawings, equipment manuals, testing procedures, and engineering documentation. Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and customer-service skills. Ability to travel frequently throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. Ability to complete occasional overnight assignments. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Preferred Qualifications Current or former NSF/ANSI 49 Accredited Biosafety Cabinet Field Certifier. NEBB Certified Professional, NEBB CPT, or an equivalent industry certification. Strong working knowledge of: NSF/ANSI 49 ISO 14644 USP <797> USP <800> EU GMP Annex 1 Experience performing airflow visualization or smoke studies and evaluating airflow patterns in controlled environments. Experience supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, research, or other highly regulated industries. Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, life sciences, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent combinations of education, technical training, industry certifications, and directly relevant experience will be considered. Relevant Testing Instrumentation Experience operating and maintaining instruments such as: Laser particle counters; Aerosol photometers; Aerosol generators; Thermal anemometers; Capture hoods; Differential pressure meters; Micromanometers; Velometers; Temperature and humidity data loggers; Sound and light meters; Airflow visualization equipment; Fog generators. Competitive hourly rate: $35.00 – $40.00/hr. Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement for business travel. Company-provided tools, and testing equipment.
