Job Title: Film Distribution and Release Manager

Location: Los Angeles / Southern California preferred; remote with in-person meetings and project travel. Singapore-based applicants with demonstrable US/UK distribution experience may also be considered. Headcount: 1 (Individual Contributor)

Reporting To: Founder or Authorized Project Lead

About the Project: We are developing an approximately 90-minute space science-fiction feature using a human-led, AI-assisted creative and production workflow. Our production and technology teams are primarily based in China. We are seeking an experienced release manager to build and execute a practical English-language distribution plan through digital platforms, content licensing, and tailored theatrical events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and continuously update the territory, rights, windowing, delivery, and release plan and budget for US and English-speaking markets.
  • Evaluate and contact digital aggregators, distributors, and acquisition channels; compare terms of acceptance, fees, rights, exit clauses, and accounting terms.
  • Organize English sales materials, trailers, screeners, metadata, subtitles, audio tracks, and technical checks; follow up on rejections and fixes.
  • Collaborate with theatrical booking consultants and exhibition partners to arrange evaluations, limited-city test screenings, or event releases, and verify presales and costs.
  • Track licensing contracts, platform launches, audience promotion, performance reports, and collections; maintain CRM, project files, and weekly reporting.
  • Coordinate with the China production team and external professionals to accurately represent AI usage and rights, avoiding exaggeration of platform relationships or release achievements.

Requirements:

  • 4 to 8 years of experience in film distribution, aggregation services, content sales, or related roles. Must provide public links to at least 3 feature releases and explain personal contributions.
  • Deep understanding of TVOD, SVOD, AVOD, territorial rights, and windowing; familiar with independent film materials and delivery workflows.
  • Professional English pitching and negotiation skills, with strong proficiency in spreadsheets, CRM, budgeting, and financial reporting. Experience with Chinese-language or cross-border teams is a plus.
  • Experience in sci-fi, animation, or genre film distribution, as well as theatrical booking, is preferred.
  • Able to carefully manage channel inquiries and rights records regarding AI-assisted works.
  • Must possess valid work authorization for the job location; visa sponsorship details will be specified upon formal job posting. Hiring is based solely on ability, with no preferences regarding nationality, ethnicity, or age.
