Job Description
Your team: Our Finance Teams play a vital role in the success of our business. Operating across multiple locations as one united group, we work collaboratively to create a positive, highly productive, and efficient finance department within News UK.
Your role: This is an exciting opportunity to immerse yourself across News Broadcasting’s revenue streams and associated costs. You will partner closely with the Finance Manager to drive impactful analysis, forecasting, and strategic business partnering. By connecting financial results with commercial activity, you will play a crucial part in turning data into clear, actionable recommendations that support our wider broadcasting goals.
Day to day you will:
-
Build effective relationships with commercial teams and budget owners, delivering financial insight, constructive challenge, and practical support to help stakeholders achieve their objectives.
-
Analyse detailed revenue streams, brands, and platforms—including advertising, sponsorship, and digital activity—to investigate performance drivers such as pricing, volume, and customer trends.
-
Evaluate the costs associated with generating and delivering revenue, including commercial team costs, bonuses, and the cost of advertising sales.
-
Support the Finance Manager with budgets, forecasts, and long-term planning by modelling trading scenarios and assessing the financial implications of risks and opportunities.
-
Prepare comprehensive analysis and commercial commentary for weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance reviews, explaining variances and underlying causes.
-
Maintain and develop financial models, dashboards, and KPI reporting to improve the quality, consistency, and efficiency of our commercial analysis.
-
Collaborate with the wider Broadcasting team to understand reported results, investigate unexpected movements, and ensure commercial developments are accurately reflected in reporting.
What we're looking for from you:
-
Fully qualified accountant status (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
-
Strong analytical capabilities with the proven ability to investigate complex data, identify underlying drivers, and translate findings into clear commercial recommendations.
-
Experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting; previous business partnering experience is highly desirable.
-
Deep commercial awareness and a clear understanding of the relationship between revenue, costs, and profitability.
-
Confident communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to effectively explain complex financial information to colleagues with varying levels of financial knowledge.
-
The ability to influence and challenge constructively while building positive, collaborative working relationships across different teams and locations.
-
Strong Excel and financial modelling abilities; experience with TM1 or other planning and reporting tools is a distinct advantage.
-
A curious, proactive, and purposeful mindset, with a dedication to delivering useful insights and following analysis through to practical actions.
