Greysilver is a specialist recruitment consultancy operating across Insurance, Banking & Finance, Legal, Energy & Engineering, and Technology. We partner with leading organisations and high-calibre professionals to make placements that matter.
About the Job
Our client is a global specialty insurer and a leading Lloyd’s of London market participant, with a growing Australian operation. They are hiring a Finance Analyst in Sydney to provide FP&A support to the local business, reporting to the Head of Finance, Australia.
This is a commercially focused role. You will work closely with underwriting and operational leaders to turn financial and insurance data into insight that shapes business decisions. The remit covers core FP&A, portfolio and distribution analysis across broker and coverholder business, and insurance finance processes including premium receivables and cash allocation.
It suits an analyst who wants real exposure to how a specialty insurer makes money, and who wants to use AI and automation to modernise finance processes rather than maintain them.
Responsibilities
- Own the models behind the annual budget and rolling forecasts
- Write the monthly performance pack and explain the variances that matter to local leadership
- Break down results by premium, claims, commission and expense to show what is moving the numbers
- Track how each broker, coverholder and line of business is performing, including renewal retention and new business flow
- Work with underwriters to test their assumptions and support pricing and growth decisions
- Keep receivables under control, chasing down overdue and high-value balances with brokers and coverholders
- Support cash matching, month-end, audit and statutory deliverables
- Use AI and automation to cut manual reporting time and lift forecast accuracy
Requirements
- A background in FP&A, commercial finance or business performance reporting
- Insurance experience, ideally with exposure to intermediated or delegated authority business
- Strong modelling skills and confidence explaining numbers to senior non-finance stakeholders
- Working knowledge of receivables, cash allocation or broker account reconciliation
- Advanced Excel, plus practical use of AI tools in your current role
- Degree in accounting, finance, commerce or economics; progress towards CA, CPA or CIMA highly regarded
- Lloyd’s market exposure, Power BI, Databricks or Subscribe experience is a plus
What’s On Offer
- Competitive remuneration package
- Genuine career development and progression pathways
- Collaborative and high-performance team culture
- Work with market-leading clients and mandates
- Dedicated consultant support throughout your process
