🚀 You'll report to: Financial Controller

📍 Location: Hybrid, 3 days per week from our Glasgow HQ (Hillington) with flexibility

This is a 6-9 months FTC with potential scope for extension.

The Finance Assistant Role

Are you the person who spots the £40 discrepancy nobody else noticed, and can't let it go until you know where it came from?

Do you get a quiet kick out of a ledger that balances first time, invoices matched, queries cleared, nothing sitting unexplained at month end?

If you're nodding along, keep reading. We might be looking for you.

We're after a part-qualified Finance Assistant to keep the money side of Go Swag running cleanly. Supplier invoices in, customer invoices out, and a set of books that actually reflects what happened. You'll sit with our Finance Controller and be the person who makes sure the detail is right before anyone else has to worry about it.

Don't worry if you haven't finished your exams yet. We'll teach you our systems and how merch orders actually work. What we can't teach is good judgement and that instinct for knowing when to raise a question versus when to just sort it.

Essential Skills

Accuracy You'll handle high volumes of invoices, payments and reconciliations across lots of live orders. We want evidence of low error rates, whether that's clean audit feedback, reduced invoice queries, or checks you've built yourself to catch mistakes before they land.

Numeracy and systems fluency You're comfortable in spreadsheets beyond the basics and you pick up accounting software quickly. You can trace a number back to where it came from and explain what you find.

Responsiveness Finance queries pile up fast when they're left. We're looking for someone who clears things quickly, chases what's outstanding, and doesn't let a problem sit because it's awkward.

Communication You'll deal with suppliers, customers and colleagues who aren't finance people. You'll write clear emails, ask direct questions, and explain a discrepancy in a way the other person can act on.

Attitude We're a collaborative team that takes ownership and focuses on fixing problems rather than pointing fingers. If that sounds like you, you'll fit right in.

Qualified Part-qualified AAT qualified (Level 3 or above), part-qualified ACCA/CIMA, or equivalent experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role.

Desirable Skills

  • Purchase ledger, sales ledger or credit control experience

  • Supporting month-end: journals, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations

  • Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar, plus strong Excel and Google Sheets

  • Multi-currency transactions, VAT returns or international supplier payments

  • Manufacturing, e-commerce, promotional merchandise or any order-driven business

  • Checking supplier quotes against invoices and understanding job costs or margin

  • Handling sensitive financial information with discretion

Growth Mindset Over Checklists: We're looking for impact, not just a perfect cv. If you're excited about this role but don't check every single box, we still want to hear from you. We see these requirements as a guide; what matters most is your potential to contribute, your passion for our mission, and your ability to solve complex problems.

What you'll be doing

  • Process supplier invoices, match them to orders and purchase documentation, and resolve queries with suppliers directly.

  • Raise customer invoices accurately and on time, then chase outstanding payment and keep the aged debt list moving.

  • Reconcile bank accounts, supplier statements and control accounts, flagging anything that doesn't tie out.

  • Support month-end with journals, prepayments and accruals under the Finance Controller's guidance.

  • Build knowledge of how a merch order flows through the business, from quote to supplier cost to customer invoice.

  • Take on more ownership of month-end and reporting as your confidence and exams progress.

Application process
  1. Initial call with the Talent Lead: an informal call to discuss the role and your relevant skillset

  2. Take home challenge: an authentic insight to what you might do in the role

  3. Interview with the Financial Controller and finance team: you’ll have a chance to showcase your skills through a discussion on your take-home challenge with Q&A
