Working as part of the wider Financial Management Team, you will contribute to service, workforce and capacity planning and help ensure that financial considerations are fully integrated into operational decisions. You will also work collaboratively with other Finance Business Partners and colleagues across NHS Fife on wider organisational priorities.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Providing specialist financial expertise, advice and constructive challenge to clinical and non-clinical services.
  • Supporting managers and clinicians to understand financial performance, cost pressures, risks and opportunities.
  • Supporting financial planning and developing workforce and supplies budgets which reflect service requirements and objectives.

  • Preparing and communicating clear financial information, analysis and recommendations to finance and non-finance audiences.
  • Working collaboratively across Finance and with partner organisations to support local and NHS Fife-wide priorities.

About You

We are looking for someone who can combine strong technical financial skills with the relationship-building, judgement and influencing skills required of an effective Finance Business Partner.

You will be a qualified accountant with membership of a CCAB-recognised body or CIMA, with relevant experience gained within a complex organisation and demonstrable financial management experience. The formal job description also requires a degree and relevant postgraduate qualification, or demonstrable equivalent qualifying experience, together with continuing professional development following qualification.

You Will Bring

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • The ability to influence, persuade and negotiate while developing effective working relationships.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Sound professional judgement and the ability to work with considerable autonomy.
  • The ability to look beyond the numbers and understand the wider operational context in which financial decisions are made.
  • Determination, resilience, enthusiasm and commitment. You will be confident engaging with senior managers and clinicians, constructively challenging where appropriate and helping colleagues translate financial information into practical and sustainable decisions.

Why join NHS Fife Finance?

This is an opportunity to take on a visible and influential Finance Business Partner role, working alongside senior operational and clinical colleagues and contributing directly to decisions about services, resources and financial sustainability.

You will join the NHS Fife Financial Management Team and work collaboratively with Finance colleagues and services across the organisation. The roles offer exposure to a broad range of financial, operational and strategic issues, including service improvement, transformation, efficiency and financial planning.

Whether your interest lies in Health & Social Care or Acute Services, the core challenge is the same: using your financial expertise, insight and influencing skills to help services make informed decisions and deliver high-quality, financially sustainable services.
