Finance Director: Build the finance practice of an AI transformation agency
We are an AI transformation agency. We help growing companies rebuild how their operations run, with AI agents and automation designed in from the start instead of added later. Our founder and CEO scaled and exited a SaaS company and comes from a private equity background. Those private equity relationships drive our business development, and they give us a steady view of companies that need better finance operations.
Finance and accounting is our first practice. We are building a tech-enabled finance and accounting service for a small group of similar clients, and we need a finance leader to build it with us. This is a hands-on role, not a bookkeeping job. It is a real chance to design what a modern finance function looks like when agents do the routine work and people do the judgment.
At the start, you do the work directly. You will be responsible for delivering bookkeeping, accounting, and FP&A to multiple clients. You will work with our business operations engineer to build repeatable, automated ways to run routine processes. Your leverage will come from a small team of AI agents and junior accounting staff, so you can spend more of your time on review, planning, and decision support for clients.
At the start, our CEO manages the client relationships while you own the finance delivery. You join client calls and explain the numbers. As trust builds, you will take on more direct responsibility for clients.
Why this role
You build a finance practice from the ground up, with real input on the tools, the processes, and the team design.
You work next to an operator who scaled and exited a software company and who uses AI agents every day.
New clients come through established private equity relationships, so your focus stays on excellent delivery.
The practice is designed to scale, and the role is designed to grow with it.
What you will do
Manage the daily bookkeeping, reconciliations, payables, receivables, payroll coordination, and month-end close.
Set clear workflows, review steps, and controls.
Use QuickBooks as the primary accounting system.
Connect revenue, cost, and operational data to produce KPI dashboards and forecasts.
Deliver a 13-week or 26-week cash forecast for each client every week. Use automated data where possible, and review the inputs and exceptions yourself.
Build rolling 12-month to 24-month forecasts and management reports that tie accounting actuals to operating KPIs.
Set up the payables and receivables processes, each with a clear owner, approval steps, a payment calendar, and an escalation path.
Work with the operations engineer to map, automate, and test finance workflows, while you keep the audit trails and controls intact.
Design an operating model that supports one client now and three or four clients later.
What we look for
You have managed an accounting department, team, or finance function, and you can also do the work yourself.
You have strong FP&A skills: cash forecasts, rolling forecasts, budgets, variance analysis, and management reports.
You have significant hands-on experience with QuickBooks. NetSuite and Sage experience is a plus.
You understand reconciliations, close quality, and controls, and you know how to review work from other people and from automation.
On your own initiative, you have used an AI coding or cowork tool (for example, Claude Code, Codex, or Cowork) to build a tool, workflow, or prototype for yourself. You do not need to be an AI expert. We care about initiative and curiosity.
You can build useful structure from an incomplete starting point, and you adapt it to the constraints of each client.
You write English well and speak it at a conversational level on Zoom and client calls.
You can work on U.S. time zones.
Engagement details
Structure: Contractor engagement. A contract-to-full-time path is possible, based on mutual fit and business needs.

Benefits: We have not set benefits, variable compensation, country-specific terms, or travel.
Location: Latin America is preferred, but we accept applications from anywhere.
Start: The earliest start date is November 1, 2026.
