Is this job info correct?

Ten Gun is looking for a hands-on, forward-thinking Finance Director who can protect the fundamentals while helping shape what comes next. This leader will own the company’s accounting, reporting, planning, cash management, controls and compliance, while serving as a trusted advisor to the CEO and senior leadership team. The right person is curious about our industry, energized by technology and able to turn financial and operational information into a clear point of view on where the company can go and how we can get there.

What you will lead:

  • Financial strategy and executive partnership: Translate company goals, market dynamics and operating performance into financial priorities, scenarios and recommendations. Bring an informed, constructive point of view to growth, investment, pricing, resourcing and risk decisions.
  • Planning and performance: Lead the annual budget, rolling forecasts, long-range planning and scenario modeling. Build concise executive reporting that explains results, drivers, risks, opportunities and recommended actions.
  • Accounting and reporting: Oversee the general ledger, month-end and year-end close, account reconciliations and timely GAAP-based financial statements for the company and its business units.
  • Cash, treasury and working capital: Maintain clear cash forecasts and actively manage liquidity, banking relationships receivables, payables and working-capital priorities.
  • Agency and project economics: Strengthen visibility into client, project and service-line performance, including revenue, labor, utilization, realization, pricing, scope, margin and collections. Partner with operating leaders to improve profitable growth.
  • Controls, compliance and risk: Maintain effective internal controls, records-retention practices and audit readiness. Coordinate tax, payroll and regulatory compliance, including federal and multi-state requirements and Washington State B&O tax.
  • Contracts and commercial decisions: Partner with leadership on client and vendor contracts, compensation and profit-sharing plans, offer terms, acquisition analysis and other commitments with financial implications.
  • People leadership: Manage, coach, and develop a capable accounting and finance team. Set clear priorities, create accountability and build resilient processes that do not depend on a single person.

Technology and systems evolution:

This role is expected to improve the way Ten Gun uses systems, data and automation, not simply maintain the current environment.

  • Assess the finance and technology stack, data flows and reporting architecture; build a practical roadmap aligned with business value, control requirements and team capacity.
  • Lead or sponsor system selection, implementation, integration and adoption across finance and adjacent workflows, in partnership with operations and technology resources.
  • Use automation, business intelligence and responsible AI where they improve accuracy, speed, insight or employee experience, with appropriate human review, access controls and data governance.
  • Establish reliable definitions, ownership and quality standard for financial and operating data so leaders can make decisions from a shared source of truth.
  • Simplify processes, shorten reporting cycles and improve self-service visibility while preserving sound controls and auditability.

401(k) and health benefits oversight:

In partnership with HR, external advisors, plan administrators, brokers and legal counsel, the Finance Director will provide financial and governance oversight for Ten Gun’s employee benefit programs.

  • Oversee the financial management and governance cadence for the company’s 401(k), health and welfare benefit plans, including budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis and leadership recommendations.
  • Coordinate plan renewals, vendor and adviser reviews, fee and service benchmarking, plan-design analysis and implementation of approved changes.
  • Help maintain documented fiduciary and governance processes, including committee materials, contracts, required filings, audits, controls and retention of decisions records.
  • Partner with HR on clear employee communications and open enrollment, while maintaining confidentiality and appropriate separation of duties.
  • Escalate legal, tax, fiduciary and regulatory questions to qualified advisers. This role supports company oversight and does not replace the responsibilities of formally designated plan fiduciaries or professional counsel.

What success looks like:

  • Leaders receive timely, accurate information and a clear recommendation, not just a report.
  • Forecasts become more useful, cash and risk are visible earlier, and decisions are linked to measurable financial outcomes.
  • Project and client economics are understood across the business, enabling stronger pricing, staffing and investment choices.
  • Core accounting, tax, payroll, audit and benefit-plan responsibilities are disciplined, documented and dependable.
  • The finance team and systems become easier to scale, more automated and better connected to how the business operates.
  • The Finance Director develops genuine fluency in Ten Gun’s industry and contributes thoughtful, optimistic leadership about the company future.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or related field; CPA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including responsibility for close, reporting, planning, controls, tax and team leadership. Equivalent combinations of experience and education will be considered.
  • Demonstrated success as a strategic business partner to senior leadership, with the judgement to challenge assumptions and convert analysis into practical action.
  • Experience in an advertising, marketing, creative, professional-services or other project-based business strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, multi-state compliance, cash management, audit coordination and internal controls.
  • Experience overseeing employer-sponsored retirement and health benefit plans, or the ability to quickly develop fluency in plan governance, vendor management and financial oversight.
  • Experience improving financial systems and processes; ERP or accounting-system implementation, BI/reporting, workflow automation, data governance or responsible AI experience is highly valued.
  • Advanced financial modeling and spreadsheet skills, with the ability to communicate complex information through clear presentations and narratives.
