Role Title: Finance Manager, Controllership – Must be fluent in Romanian & English

BU/Segment: Finance

Location: Dublin, Republic of Ireland (Flexible hybrid working)

Summary of the role:

EXL is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join its International Controllership team. This role will be responsible for overseeing the accounting, statutory reporting, compliance, and controllership activities for one or more legal entities within the EMEA region, with a primary focus on Romania and Bulgaria.

The successful candidate will act as a key liaison between local finance operations, external advisors, auditors, and EXL's global finance organisation. The individual must be fluent in both Romanian and English and possess strong technical accounting expertise, together with a solid understanding of Romanian statutory, and tax requirements.

As part of your duties, you will be responsible for:

Financial Reporting & Close Management

  • Lead and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.

  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of statutory financial reporting.

  • Review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules.

  • Analyse financial results and investigate significant variances.

  • Support consolidation and group reporting requirements.

Statutory Compliance

  • Manage Romanian and Bulgarian statutory accounting and financial statement preparation.

  • Coordinate annual audits and act as the primary contact for external auditors.

  • Ensure compliance with local accounting regulations and company policies.

  • Oversee compliance with reporting obligations.

  • Support implementation and monitoring of new accounting standard changes.

  • Support SOX and internal control compliance activities where applicable.

Tax & Indirect Tax Compliance

  • Partner with internal and external tax advisors on corporate tax, VAT, and transfer pricing matters.

  • Assist with local tax authority queries and compliance reviews.

  • Ensure alignment between accounting records, tax filings, and statutory reporting.

Qualifications and experience we consider to be essential for the role:

  • Qualified Accountant with 3+ years of accounting and finance experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.

  • Strong understanding of Romanian accounting regulations and statutory reporting requirements.

  • Experience managing audits and working with external auditors.

  • Fluent Romanian, written and spoken - mandatory.

  • Fluent English, written and spoken - mandatory.

Skills and Personal attributes we would like to have:

  • Experience working within a multinational organisation.

  • Experience in a shared services, BPO, or multinational environment.

  • Knowledge of Romanian VAT, payroll, SAF-T (D406), and e-Factura requirements.

  • Experience with Oracle Fusion, SAP, or other large ERP platforms.
