Our client is a Belgian scale-up, and to further support their ambitions to grow in the European market, they are looking for a

Finance & Operations Controller

As Finance & Operations Controller, you will report directly to the CFO. You will combine the group’s day-to-day financial operations and reporting with building processes and systems. You will also contribute to strategic projects such as M&A, system integration, and optimisation.

The Role

• Order-to-cash: You will monitor invoicing and outstanding customer invoices with the internal sales managers.
• Accounting: You will be the central point of contact for the external accountant. You will ensure timely provision of the necessary information and monitor compliance with all legal obligations.
• Payments and cash management: You will manage supplier payments, monitor the cash position weekly, and oversee liquidity and credit management.
• Management reporting: You will prepare monthly financial reports, cash flow forecasts, and profitability analyses per client, as well as ad hoc analyses and reports for the board of directors.
• Budget: You will assist with budget preparation and ensure information is provided correctly.
• Audit: You will act as the operational point of contact for the external auditor and provide the necessary information and documentation.
• Automation: You will further automate the order-to-cash and purchase-to-pay processes.
• Optimisation: You will optimise working capital and identify opportunities for cost savings and tax optimisation.

The Profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a controller. A background in audit or corporate finance is a plus.
• Solid knowledge of Belgian GAAP and VAT legislation.
• Very good knowledge of Excel and an affinity for automation and AI tools. Experience with Exact Online, HubSpot, Rydoo, or BrightAnalytics is a strong plus.
• Fluent in Dutch and English. Knowledge of French is an asset.
• Entrepreneurial, hands-on, and able to organise your own work independently.
• Flexible and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
• Strong communication skills and able to challenge various stakeholders.
