Finance Transformation Lead

12-month FTC | Circa £90,000 per annum, depending on experience | Birmingham

Are you someone who enjoys getting under the skin of a business, challenging the status quo and turning complex problems into practical improvements?

I'm working on an exciting opportunity for an experienced Finance Transformation Lead to make a tangible impact within a large, established organisation.

Following an ERP implementation, the business is looking for someone who can take a fresh look at how its Finance function operates, identify what's holding it back and lead meaningful, sustainable change.

This is a hands-on role with strong senior-level backing and the autonomy to make a real difference.

Finance Transformation Lead - The opportunity:

You'll work closely with the FD and wider leadership team to understand existing processes, uncover inefficiencies and develop a prioritised roadmap for improvement.

The remit spans the full function, from transactional processing through to management accounting, with opportunities to influence processes and behaviours across the wider business.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Mapping end-to-end financial processes and identifying inefficiencies, bottlenecks and unnecessary manual work.
• Investigating the root causes of operational challenges, distinguishing between system limitations, process issues and capability gaps.
• Improving month-end close, reconciliations, financial controls and overall operational efficiency.
• Developing a practical transformation roadmap, delivering quick wins and leading improvement initiatives through to implementation.
• Identifying opportunities for automation and AI to reduce manual activity and improve productivity.
• Engaging stakeholders through workshops, challenging existing ways of working and embedding new processes.
• Developing team capability and ensuring improvements are sustainable beyond the life of the contract.

Finance Transformation Lead - What we're looking for:

You'll bring demonstrable experience of delivering finance transformation, ERP-enabled change or significant finance process improvement.

You'll be comfortable getting into the detail, asking difficult questions and translating your findings into practical solutions that deliver measurable results.

We're particularly interested in people who can demonstrate:

• Strong knowledge of end-to-end financial processes and controls.
• Experience improving financial operations following an ERP implementation.
• Excellent process mapping, problem-solving and continuous improvement skills.
• The confidence to influence stakeholders and drive change without direct line management responsibility.
• A hands-on approach, with the resilience and initiative to work independently and deliver at pace.
• You may have experience in any of the following roles:

Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 would be beneficial, but it isn't essential. Experience with SAP, Oracle or another major ERP system will also be considered.
