Role Description The Finance Article Writer will research, develop, and write high-quality, insight-driven articles on corporate performance, NGX-listed companies, market trends, and broader macroeconomic issues relevant to Nigeria. Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing financial statements, annual reports, market data, and regulatory filings; translating complex financial and economic information into accessible, engaging content; and collaborating with editors and analysts to refine story angles. The writer will be expected to produce well-structured, evidence-backed articles, conduct interviews where needed, and align content with Insights.ng’s standard of independent, data-led analysis. This is a remote contract role, requiring consistent delivery against agreed deadlines and openness to editorial feedback.

Qualifications

• Strong finance and economic analysis skills, including the ability to interpret financial statements, corporate filings, and market data relevant to Nigerian and global markets.
• Proven writing and editing skills, with experience in business journalism, financial writing, or thought leadership content focused on markets, investing, or macroeconomics.
• Research proficiency, including qualitative and quantitative methods, data verification, and source evaluation to ensure factual accuracy and balanced perspectives.
• Familiarity with the Nigerian capital markets ecosystem, including NGX-listed companies, regulatory bodies, and sector-specific dynamics, or the willingness and aptitude to learn quickly.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to a broad audience, maintaining a neutral, analytical tone while producing engaging narratives.
• Comfort working remotely on a contract basis, with strong time management, self-organization, and responsiveness to editorial guidance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Journalism, or a related field is preferred; equivalent professional experience in financial analysis or reporting is also valued.
• Experience using productivity and collaboration tools (e.g., Google Workspace, content management systems) and basic familiarity with SEO best practices for digital publishing is an advantage.
