Windsor | Hybrid, 3 days in the office | + benefits
This is a broad, hands-on Part Qualified Accountant in a PE-backed international group, ideal for a someone ready to take real ownership of the numbers.
Validus Risk Management is a PE-backed financial risk management business. We combine specialist advisory with our own technology platform to help leading private markets investors manage their FX and interest rate risk. We operate across the UK, Europe, North America and Asia, through several regulated and unregulated entities and in five currencies.
Our finance team is based in Windsor. We're looking for a part-qualified accountant who wants more than a processing role: someone curious, organised and keen to understand how a growing international group really works. You'll report to our Assistant Financial Controller, within a team led by the Finance Director, and get hands-on exposure to the full month-end and annual finance lifecycle, with regular visibility to senior leadership. That includes multi-entity, multi-currency accounting and FCA regulatory reporting that most roles at this level never touch.
Our core company values are;
- Accountability – Getting it done and owning the result.
- Teamwork – We succeed by helping others succeed.
- Integrity – We serve our clients; the responsibility is sacrosanct.
- Diversity – Diversity boosts creativity – creativity is our edge.
- Kaizen – Strive to do things better. Innovation kills complacency.
Validus is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
What you'll do
Core accounting and month-end
- Own revenue recognition across all revenue streams, including accrued and deferred income
- Own month-end journals and postings, including accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
- Work through complex accounting treatments, documenting the approach and recommending the right answer
- Own the new FRS 102 lease accounting, including the lease register and right-of-use asset and lease liability calculations
- Prepare intercompany reconciliations and support the group consolidation across five currencies
- Produce monthly reporting packs with clear commentary on results and key movements
Compliance and reporting
- Prepare statutory accounts for our UK and international entities, working with local advisers
- Lead the annual audit for your entities, preparing schedules and managing auditor queries
- Prepare FCA regulatory returns and support capital calculations
- Review VAT returns and prepare corporation tax information for our tax advisers
Improvement and collaboration
- Improve close processes, controls and systems so the finance function scales smoothly
- Work closely with our Toronto-based Management Accountant, sharing processes and providing cover across time zones
What we're looking for
- Newly qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or a finalist with your last exams to go
- 2+ years' experience preparing month-end and statutory accounts, ideally across more than one entity
- Experience in a service-based business, such as professional services, consultancy, tech-enabled services or SaaS.
- Strong grasp of accounting principles, and knowledge of – or a strong interest in – regulatory reporting (training provided)
- Strong Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables and building clean, reliable reconciliations
- Solid knowledge of FRS 102, including the 2026 changes to revenue and lease accounting, with confidence handling complex accounting treatments
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Good organisation, and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- Confidence to ask questions, challenge how things are done and take ownership of your work
- We use Xero – experience with Xero/Sage Intacct, or with multi-currency accounting, is a bonus but not essential
Share in our mission to become the largest and most respected specialist provider of financial market risk services in the world. Notable benefits include a competitive remuneration package (salary + bonus), health care, and retirement plans.
- Hybrid working, 3 days a week in our Windsor office, with 25 days' holiday rising to 30, plus bank holidays
- Bonus scheme based on company and individual performance, plus pension and private medical insurance
- CPD training and your annual professional membership fees paid, or study support to complete your exams: funding agreed with your manager, plus two days' study leave for each exam
- A fast-paced, rapidly growing financial services business, with international accounting work across five currencies and real opportunity to progress
