This Is More Than a Financial Analyst Role Jefferson Healthcare is looking for an experienced Financial Analyst who understands that healthcare finance is about much more than producing reports or explaining what happened last month. This person will help leaders understand why something happened. Why did revenue move? What is driving a variance? Does the data make sense? Is what we are seeing a meaningful operational change—or simply normal fluctuation? And when something does not add up, this analyst will be expected to follow the question all the way back to its source. The Financial Planning & Analysis team at Jefferson Healthcare is continuing to grow and evolve, creating an opportunity for someone who enjoys not only analyzing financial performance, but also building better processes, improving reporting, asking good questions, and helping leaders make better decisions. The strongest candidates will bring at least three years of healthcare financial analysis experience and already understand the fundamentals of hospital revenue, reimbursement, budgeting, forecasting, and operations. Compensation + Schedule Salary: $67,470.14 – $101,205.23 annually, depending on experience Employment: Full-Time | 1.0 FTE | 40 hours per week Schedule: Day shift | No weekends Work Arrangement: Primarily Remote The Financial Analyst will work remotely while remaining actively engaged and collaborative with the Jefferson Healthcare team. Jefferson Healthcare expects travel to Port Townsend, Washington, at least once annually for planned team building. Travel and lodging for the planned annual visit are covered. What You Will Do As Financial Analyst, you will work across financial, operational, labor, and clinical information to help Jefferson Healthcare understand performance and make informed decisions. Your work will include: Developing, maintaining, and enhancing financial reports, dashboards, scorecards, and business intelligence tools Supporting annual operating and capital budgets Developing financial forecasts and supporting long-range financial planning Performing budget-to-actual variance analysis Identifying financial and operational trends, risks, and opportunities Analyzing gross and net patient revenue Understanding contractual adjustments, payors, reimbursement, and the operational drivers behind financial performance Preparing routine and ad hoc analyses for executive leadership, service-line leaders, and department managers Developing financial models supporting ROI, business planning, capital investments, and organizational growth Evaluating the financial performance of departments, service lines, strategic initiatives, and investments Supporting position control and labor productivity analysis Partnering directly with department leaders to explain financial results, expectations, key drivers, and opportunities Translating complex financial information into clear and actionable information for non-financial leaders Reconciling and validating financial and operational data Identifying inconsistencies or data-quality issues and tracing problems back to their source Working with data from multiple financial, operational, and business intelligence systems Maintaining consistent reporting definitions, assumptions, methodologies, and documentation Helping improve reporting accuracy and financial business processes Managing multiple priorities independently while recognizing what requires further investigation versus normal variance or noise You will collaborate with teams including: Accounting Revenue Cycle Data Analytics Clinical Informatics Human Resources Supply Chain Operational leadership Executive leadership Healthcare Experience Matters For this particular search, healthcare financial analysis experience is important. There is a significant learning curve associated with hospital revenue, reimbursement, payors, contractual adjustments, and healthcare operations. For that reason, Jefferson Healthcare is seeking candidates with: A minimum of three years of progressively responsible financial analysis experience in a healthcare environment. Candidates should already understand the fundamentals of healthcare finance and be capable of getting up to speed quickly within the organization. What You Will Bring Required Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Economics, Statistics, or a related field Minimum three years of progressively responsible financial analysis experience in a healthcare environment Healthcare budgeting experience Financial forecasting experience Financial modeling experience Variance analysis experience Knowledge of healthcare financial operations and reimbursement methodologies Understanding of gross and net patient revenue Understanding of contractual adjustments and payors Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Experience with financial reporting and business intelligence applications Strong reconciliation and data-validation abilities Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills Ability to interpret complex financial, operational, and statistical data Ability to communicate financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences Ability to organize and manage multiple projects and priorities Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work with considerable independence Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills Ability to work successfully in a primarily remote environment while remaining engaged with the team SQL Will Make You Stand Out SQL proficiency is highly preferred.
