Launch Your Finance Career with a Global Manufacturing Leader
At Carlisle Construction Materials (CCM), we're helping shape the future of the building industry through innovative, sustainable roofing, insulation, and waterproofing solutions. As part of a global organization with a strong commitment to safety, innovation, and continuous improvement, you'll have the opportunity to build a rewarding career while making a meaningful impact.
We're seeking a Finance Analyst I – Operations Finance to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career finance professional who wants to gain hands-on experience in manufacturing finance, cost accounting, financial planning, and operational analysis.
In this role, you'll partner with plant leadership, operations teams, and business unit finance leaders to analyze performance, identify opportunities, and help drive business results. While primarily office-based, you'll also have opportunities to visit manufacturing facilities to better understand operations and the financial drivers behind plant performance.
Why Join Carlisle?
- Hybrid schedule: 3 days in the office, 2 days remote
- Exposure to manufacturing operations and business leadership
- Career development opportunities within a global organization
- Tuition assistance and professional growth programs
- Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits
- Collaborative culture focused on innovation, continuous improvement, and employee success
Duties and Responsibilities
Plant Finance & Operations Support
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly plant performance reporting — variance analysis, KPI scorecards, and commentary.
- Analyze plant cost trends (material usage, labor efficiency, overhead absorption, scrap, yield) and recommend actions.
- Help the Polyiso Business Unit Controller monitor operational activity and its P&L impact for plant leadership.
- Spend occasional time in the plants to understand production processes, material flows, and cost structure.
Product Costing
- Help develop and maintain standard costs — BOM validation, labor routing, and overhead rates — with controllers, operations, and engineering.
- Support the annual standard cost roll, including activity rates and scrap-factor updates.
- Partner with procurement and supply chain on raw material costs, including freight and tariffs.
- Analyze and explain standard-to-actual cost variances (price, usage, efficiency).
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Assist with the monthly forecast and annual budget, focusing on manufacturing support departments.
- Prepare month-end journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals on the close calendar.
- Provide ad-hoc analysis on plant opportunities, explaining root causes and business implications.
- Maintain models for scenario planning across production and headcount assumptions.
Compliance & Controls
- Support SOX compliance — internal controls, documentation, and testing.
- Support inventory integrity through cycle counts and the annual physical inventory.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Zero to two years of finance or accounting experience; manufacturing experience a plus. Recent graduates encouraged to apply.
- Hands-on cost accounting experience (standard costing, variance analysis) is a differentiator.
- SAP experience preferred; quick to learn new ERP and reporting systems.
- Experience preparing management-level presentations is a plus.
Required Skills/Abilities/Knowledge
- Financial & Technical Expertise
- Foundational grasp of cost accounting — standard costing, variance analysis, overhead allocation — with a willingness to learn.
- Working understanding of the three financial statements and how operations drive results.
- Systems & Analytics
- Proficient in Excel (formulas, pivot tables, large datasets); Power BI a plus.
- Able to analyze complex data, spot trends, and draw clear conclusions.
- SAP or other ERP exposure is a nice-to-have; eagerness to learn systems matters more.
- Leadership & Partnership
- Strong communicator; explains financial concepts clearly to non-finance audiences.
- Natural curiosity about how the business and its operations work.
- Manages multiple priorities under deadlines with ownership and follow-through.
