Position Summary
The Financial Analyst 2 role owns the monthly FP&A reporting cycle for US Orthopaedic Partners and is the Finance Manager’s primary partner on the financial information delivered to the Director, CFO, the Board, and practice leadership. The role leads month-end close and reporting, turning closed general ledger results into accurate entity-level financial statements, variance analysis, and board-ready materials. Beyond reporting, the Financial Analyst 2 identifies and explains the key performance drivers behind results, delivering multi-entity analysis at both the consolidated and practice level to inform operational and strategic decisions. The role also supports components of the annual budget and forecast as well as supports financial modeling and post-close budgeting for newly acquired practices as they are integrated into the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Monthly reporting and close support
- Participate in the month-end close process alongside accounting, then perform post-close analysis and build the monthly Financial Workbook and entity-level financial packets.
- Analyze actual results against budget, prior year, and run rate, identifying and explaining material variances and key performance drivers by practice, entity, and department.
- Prepare the Summary Financials, MIPS reporting, and concise one-page results summaries for executive and practice leadership.
- Reconcile and validate all reporting outputs against the general ledger and Jet Reports to ensure accuracy and integrity before distribution.
- Ownership of Revenue Recognition Process.
Board and executive reporting
- Draft P&L, KPI and cash collections slides for the monthly and quarterly board deck.
- Write driver commentary: volume, payer mix, provider productivity, labor and vendor spend.
- Track and explain L3M / L6M trends and vendor spend changes.
Ad hoc analysis
- Support M&A and de novo work: target diligence models, integration tracking and post-close performance.
- Analyze revenue cycle results with RCM: collections, payer trends and A/R.
- Respond to leadership requests with clear, decision-ready analysis.
- Analyze provider productivity and operational metrics, such as visit volumes, surgical cases, and wRVUs, to identify performance trends across practices.
- Identify cost savings and margin improvement opportunities through analysis of expense trends, vendor spend, and staffing efficiency across entities.
Process improvement
- Standardize and automate recurring reports; document each workflow and its tie-out checks.
- Maintain mapping tables for accounts, entities, departments, and providers alongside Accounting to ensure reporting consistency.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- 2+ years in FP&A, corporate finance, public accounting, or investment banking.
- Advanced Excel proficiency, including financial modeling, lookup functions, pivot tables, and analysis of large datasets.
- Strong understanding of the three financial statements, accrual accounting, and the month-end close process.
- Clear written and verbal communication, including executive-level slides.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet monthly close and reporting deadlines.
Preferred
- Healthcare services, physician practice management, or ASC experience.
- Private equity–backed or multi-entity, roll-up environment.
- Experience with Great Plains (or another ERP), Jet Reports and Power BI.
- SQL or Python, or experience with AI and automation tools for reporting.
- Familiarity with revenue cycle management, payer reimbursement, and provider productivity metrics.
Competencies
- Ensures every number ties and reconciles before it leaves the desk.
- Curiosity about what drives the numbers, not only what they are.
- Ownership of deadlines in a monthly close cadence.
- Comfort presenting financial results to senior leadership.
