Company Overview
Your new company is a well-established and growing organisation operating in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment. With ambitious plans for continued growth and investment, the business is seeking to appoint an experienced Financial Controller to join its leadership team and play a central role in driving financial performance, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making.
This is an opportunity to join a business where finance is viewed as a key commercial partner to the wider organisation. The successful candidate will have significant exposure to senior leadership, the autonomy to make an impact, and the opportunity to help shape the future direction of the finance function.
The Role
Reporting directly to the General Manager and heading up the finance function, the Financial Controller will lead the finance function and act as a trusted advisor to key stakeholders across the business. This is a broad leadership role encompassing financial control, commercial finance, business partnering, team leadership, and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading all aspects of financial reporting, management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Driving financial performance through insightful analysis and meaningful commercial support
- Partnering closely with operational leaders to identify opportunities for improved profitability and efficiency
- Ensuring strong financial controls, governance, and compliance across the business
- Leading, coaching, and developing the finance team
- Supporting strategic decision-making through accurate financial modelling and business analysis
- Driving process improvements, systems enhancements, and operational efficiencies
- Managing the annual budgeting and forecasting process
- Providing regular performance reporting and key business insights to senior leadership
- Supporting growth initiatives, investment projects, and broader business transformation activities
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with a proven track record in financial leadership, ideally within a commercially focused and operationally driven environment.
Key skills required:
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent qualification
- Strong financial control and management reporting experience
- Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to influence business decisions
- Experience partnering with operational and non-finance stakeholders
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem solving
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience driving process improvement and business transformation initiatives would be advantageous
What's On Offer
- Competitive salary and benefits package
- Hybrid working flexibility (although the preference is for someone to be on-site for first 6 months)
- Highly visible leadership position with direct access to senior decision-makers
- Broad role offering a genuine blend of financial control and commercial finance
- Opportunity to influence strategy and drive business performance
- Significant autonomy and ownership within the finance function
- Strong career progression potential within a growing organisation
- Collaborative and ambitious leadership team focused on continued growth and success
- This represents an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional seeking a role that extends beyond traditional financial control and provides genuine exposure to commercial leadership, strategic decision-making, and long-term career progression.
