Financial Controller

We are looking for a Financial Controller for our facilitator business and related Spanish entity. The business coordinates fresh-produce procurement, packaging and delivery to a major European retailer across EU and non-EU markets.

Based in Valencia and reporting to the Finance Manager, this full-time, hands-on role combines accounting, financial control and commercial analysis. You will work with Finance, Commercial, Operations and Supply Chain colleagues to ensure reliable reporting and effective financial processes.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Accounting & Close: Own key month-end activities, reconciliations and intercompany balances, ensuring accurate accounting and balance-sheet integrity.

Reporting & Compliance: Deliver statutory accounts, tax/VAT reporting, audits and year-end requirements with internal and external specialists. Ensure compliance with IFRS, Spanish statutory accounting and Fyffes’ accounting policies and internal controls.

Planning & Performance: Prepare and analyse monthly financial results, budgets, forecasts and risks and opportunities, providing clear insight for business decisions and performance reviews.

Profitability & Working Capital: Analyse customer, product and service profitability and commercial scenarios. Monitor receivables, payables, claims and cash collection.

Overhead Management: Manage overhead budgets, reporting and recharges from other Fyffes businesses, maintaining disciplined cost control.

Capital Expenditure: Oversee capex, sharing responsibility with depot finance depending on the project.

Treasury: Manage funding needs and requests in coordination with Finance and Treasury teams.

SAP & Process Improvement: Control financial flows in SAP and coordinate with shared-services teams on invoicing, payments and close. Resolve issues, ensure vendors follow agreed processes, and improve reporting and controls using Excel and Power BI.

What We’re Looking For

· Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field; a Spanish accounting or audit qualification is an advantage.

· At least 5 years of relevant experience in financial control, accounting, audit, FP&A or commercial finance.

· Practical experience with IFRS, Spanish statutory accounting, month-end close, reconciliations and audits.

· Strong analytical skills, commercial awareness and a practical, hands-on approach.

· Advanced Excel and hands-on SAP experience; Power BI, Power Query or reporting automation is desirable.

· Spanish and English at minimum C1 level, and eligibility to work in Spain.

· Experience in a multinational, FMCG, distribution, logistics or shared-services environment is an advantage.

· Clear communication and the ability to work across teams, entities and countries.

· Integrity, ownership and attention to detail, with the confidence to challenge assumptions and meet deadlines.

Working Pattern

The role is based in Valencia, Spain, within an international and cross-functional environment. Occasional travel may be required.

Office attendance is required at least 4 days per week during onboarding and 3 days per week once fully established in the role.

• Competitive Compensation Range: €52,000–€58,000 gross per year.
