About AngelList

Private markets are the new public markets. The most important companies of this era are private, and almost no one can own them. What's missing is the financial system public markets spent a century building: exchanges, custodians, brokers, and ways for ordinary people to buy in. Private markets, now $28T, never had the equivalent. AngelList is building it.

The last decade of structural innovation in venture happened here: syndicates, SPVs at scale, Rolling Funds, scout programs. Today we have $200B+ in assets and 30,000+ startups funded on our platform. The rest of private markets is next. Funds is the software and services behind private funds, Nova is the banking network, Meridian is the wealth platform for accredited investors, and USVC is the brand behind a registered fund that lets anyone invest in venture.

Working here means an unusual amount of agency on a problem that matters. Titles are closer to suggestions, and there are about 200 of us building what private markets never had. Come build it with us.

About the role:

Every year, trillions of dollars move from investors to funds and from funds to companies in private markets. Every time that money moves, everyone holds their breath a little. Did these millions go to the right account? Will investor capital land in time for the deployment?

Nova is the payments network that solves this. We've run it inside AngelList for five years, moving $90B between funds and investors without the risk of sending money to the wrong place or arriving late. Now we're opening it to the rest of venture, private equity, and real estate.

The Financial Partnerships Lead oversees the bank, infrastructure, and credit partners that support Nova. You will select partners, negotiate terms, and ensure each relationship delivers and accelerates our roadmap. This senior IC role reports to Nova’s GM and has a path to building a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and own our partnership strategy while collaborating with product to bring our roadmap to life
  • Define and own the partner selection process and strategy, from market mapping to commercial negotiations
  • Lead the search for new partners as Nova expands its offerings and infrastructure requirements
  • Maintain network resilience by managing deposit concentration, maintaining redundancy options for critical partners, and renegotiating or replacing partners as needed
  • Serve as the senior point of contact and escalation for each partner, from their working teams to executives
  • Lead third-party oversight with Risk, Compliance, and AML, from partner audits and diligence requests to issue remediation
  • You have

  • 8+ years in bank partnerships, fintech partnerships, treasury or deposit programs, or banking
  • Managed partner banks, sweep networks, payment providers, or infrastructure providers, and know how banks oversee fintech partners, from third-party risk to BSA/AML and FDIC insurance for custodial deposits
  • Negotiated complex commercial agreements alongside counsel, and model the economics before you sign
  • Can talk APIs, payment rails, and reconciliation with engineers, then explain partner limits to Product in plain terms
  • Run several high-stakes relationships at once with no playbook, make calls before the data is complete, and write the memo that leadership can decide from
  • Look for ways AI can take work off your plate and give you leverage
