POSITION: FP&A Director

REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer

Position Summary

Flagstone Foods is seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of FP&A to join our team, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer.

This role combines the core responsibilities of a traditional finance director (accurate and timely monthly reporting, operational analysis, and day-to-day decision support for the business) with a clear mandate to modernize how finance works. We are looking for a leader who will find practical ways to integrate AI into the business and leverage that information to inform the decision-making process.

The ideal candidate brings deep finance and operational expertise, a proven record of leading transformation, genuine curiosity about AI and advanced analytics, and the leadership presence to influence change at all levels of the organization.

Essential Functions

Business Performance Reporting & Financial Performance

  • Lead the monthly business results reporting package, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, operational KPIs results, with clear commentary on variances to budget, forecast, and prior year.
  • Facilitate weekly and monthly business performance review meetings with functional leaders, explain key financial and operational drivers, align on corrective actions and follow up on accountability and results.
  • Lead the annual budget and rolling forecast processes, maintaining driver-based models for volume, price, mix, commodity costs, and manufacturing performance.
  • Prepare reporting and presentation materials for the CFO, executive leadership, the board, and private equity sponsors.

Operational Analysis & Business Support

  • Build and evaluate business cases for capital investments, cost-savings initiatives, and new products, and track realized results against plan.
  • Enhance SKU profitability reporting to facilitate timely review of bid versus actual information and provide insights to business partners.
  • Develop a sourcing-based commodity position management framework that links purchase commitments, inventory, demand forecasts, customer contract terms, and pricing exposure by commodity and SKU to support timely coverage, margin protection, and sourcing decisions.
  • Apply predictive and optimization models to recommend the product and channel mix that maximize margin within plant capacity, commodity, and customer constraints.
  • Evaluate current KPIs across the organization and establish best-in-class metrics to drive performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Finance Digital Strategy & Transformation

  • Lead the identification, prioritization, and deployment of AI and advanced analytics use cases across finance and the broader business, each with a clear business case and measurable return.
  • Partner with IT and data owners to establish the data foundation (quality, governance, and SAP integration) that AI tools need to be reliable, well-controlled, and auditable.
  • Lead finance transformation initiatives, including impact analysis, business readiness assessments, and the management of project risks, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (Education/Experience)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or CMA designation, or equivalent experience (including a blend of industry and public accounting); CPA or MBA a plus.
  • 7-10 years of progressive finance experience in a similar role, including FP&A and operational or plant finance, with exposure to organizations of comparable size and complexity.
  • Experience in middle-market, private equity-backed manufacturing or industrial companies preferred; food or consumer packaged goods experience a plus.
  • Strong command of manufacturing cost accounting, standard costing, SKU and customer profitability analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics to finance or operational problems, with a practical understanding of how to move from pilot to everyday adoption.
  • Highly motivated individual who can follow through and work with minimal supervision or direction.
  • Proven ability to drive transformation, improve processes, mentor teams, and upgrade talent as needed.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills with extensive experience effectively collaborating, influencing, and leading teams and individuals across functions.
  • Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with BI and planning tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) expected, and familiarity with SQL, Python, or AI-enabled finance platforms a plus.
  • Skilled in developing business-driven financial analysis and recommendations, and in communicating them clearly to non-finance audiences.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with a collaborative approach to partnering with business leaders.
