This varied role is suited to someone who combines strong invoice-processing and systems knowledge with a practical, solutions-focused approach. The successful candidate will help resolve complex operational issues and identify opportunities to simplify, standardise and automate the way we work.

Working across Finance, business and technical teams, the Financial Specialist will contribute to reliable day-to-day service delivery while supporting longer-term process, system and capability improvements across Gilead’s EMEA operations.

In this role, you will:

  • Apply and develop expertise across the end-to-end invoice lifecycle, from invoice receipt and validation through PO and non-PO processing and exception management.
  • Act as a functional link between STS users and technical team, translating operational requirements and business problems into clear system, process or automation requirements.
  • Build broad knowledge of invoice-processing requirements and local practices across Gilead’s EMEA markets.
  • Use SAP, VIM and process knowledge to investigate complex issues, identify root causes and support sustainable solutions.
  • Partner with Finance, business, Procurement, IT and other technical teams to resolve operational issues and deliver improvements.
  • Identify and progress opportunities to simplify and standardise processes, reduce manual intervention, strengthen controls and increase automation and straight-through processing.
  • Support user acceptance testing, regression testing, system enhancements and the implementation of process changes.
  • Share knowledge and support cross-training efforts to strengthen team capability, business continuity and operational resilience.
  • Monitor recurring issues and process trends, using insights to recommend preventative actions and continuous improvements.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

The successful candidate will bring a combination of invoice-processing expertise, curiosity, sound judgement and a genuine commitment to improving how work is delivered.

  • Good understanding of the end-to-end invoice lifecycle, including PO and non-PO invoices and exception handling.
  • Hands-on experience using SAP in an invoice-processing environment including knowledge of VIM or a comparable invoice workflow solution.
  • Knowledge of invoice-processing requirements across EMEA markets, or the ability and motivation to develop broader cross-market expertise.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to look beyond an individual transaction and identify the underlying root cause.
  • Confidence supporting end users and translating complex processes or system requirements into clear, practical guidance.
  • A continuous-improvement mindset, with an interest in simplification, standardization, controls and automation.
  • Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Good attention to detail, sound judgement and a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Information Systems, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Microsoft 365 applications and SharePoint.
  • Power Apps
    • Power Automate
    • Power Pages
  • Broader Procure-to-Pay / Source-to-Settle processes.
  • Automation or straight-through-processing improvement initiatives.
  • User acceptance testing, system enhancements or change implementation.
  • Process mapping, root-cause analysis and continuous-improvement methodologies.
  • Working within a global or shared-services environment.
