Job Title: Firmware Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineer to support new product development and next-generation connected product platforms. In this hands-on role, you design, implement, test, and troubleshoot embedded firmware for products that incorporate Bluetooth/BLE, WiFi, and cellular connectivity, including devices that provide location and connectivity capabilities for fielddeployed products. You contribute across the complete embedded product lifecycle, from architecture and coding through validation, launch, and postlaunch support.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement embedded firmware for new and existing products using C++ in baremetal and microcontrollerbased environments.
- Contribute to firmware architecture and make significant handson contributions to productionquality code.
- Develop firmware for connected products that utilize Bluetooth/BLE, WiFi, and cellular technologies to enable robust communication and location capabilities.
- Work extensively with microcontrollers, with a strong focus on STM/STMicroelectronics devices, to build reliable embedded solutions.
- Translate system and product requirements into clear, maintainable embedded firmware functionality.
- Independently test and validate your own firmware, ensuring functionality, reliability, and performance meet product requirements.
- Debug firmware and embedded system issues throughout development, integration, and product validation phases.
- Participate in the complete product development lifecycle, including design, implementation, integration, validation, product launch, and production bug fixes.
- Troubleshoot issues discovered after launch and implement effective postlaunch bug fixes to improve product performance and stability.
- Engage in design and code reviews to improve code quality and support both new product development and reusable, platformlevel firmware components.
Essential Skills
- Professional embedded systems or firmware development experience in a handson engineering role.
- Strong C++ programming skills specifically in embedded and baremetal environments.
- Proven experience developing microcontrollerbased firmware, preferably with STM/STMicroelectronics microcontrollers.
- Experience developing baremetal embedded firmware without reliance on large operating systems.
- Demonstrated ability to personally implement substantial portions of production firmware code.
- Handson experience testing, validating, and debugging your own firmware to ensure high reliability.
- Experience taking embedded products from initial development through product launch.
- Experience troubleshooting and implementing postlaunch bug fixes for embedded products.
- Ability to design, test, and validate firmware endtoend, owning the quality of your work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience developing firmware for connected products using Bluetooth/BLE, WiFi, and cellular technologies.
- Strong working with STM/STMicroelectronicsbased products, including full design, test, and validation cycles.
- Comfort working in both baremetal and MCUbased embedded environments.
- Experience participating in design and code reviews to enhance code quality and maintainability.
- building reusable and platformlevel firmware components that can support multiple products.
Work Environment
You work in a handson engineering environment focused on embedded systems and connected products. Daytoday activities involve coding in C++ for baremetal and microcontrollerbased platforms, working closely with STM/STMicroelectronics hardware, and integrating Bluetooth/BLE, WiFi, and cellular connectivity into fielddeployed devices. The role emphasizes full lifecycle ownership, from design and architecture through testing, validation, launch, and ongoing production support, in a setting that values robust engineering practices, thorough debugging, and continuous improvement of firmware quality.
