About the Organisation

Australian Schools Plus (Schools Plus) is a national not-for-profit organisation established in 2014 in

response to the 2011 Gonski Review, which highlighted the deep and persistent educational inequities across Australia.

Grounded by the belief that every child deserves every opportunity to thrive, we’re committed to giving all children access to quality education and breaking entrenched cycles of disadvantage affecting communities nationwide. We partner with schools, education sectors, philanthropy and government to tackle the greatest education challenges, improve student outcomes and drive reform at both the local and systems level.

About the role

In this newly created role, reporting to the Director of Education and working across a national team, the First Nations Program Advisor supports the delivery and ongoing development of Schools Plus’ First Nations portfolio, helping to improve educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. The role works closely with schools, communities and sector partners to coordinate and support school partnership projects, track progress and outcomes, and contribute to evaluation and reporting activities. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, the Advisor helps identify opportunities to strengthen programs, share learnings and support positive outcomes for First Nations students.

The First Nations Program Advisor also plays an important role in building and maintaining strong relationships across the education and First Nations sectors. The position provides cultural insights and practical support to help embed First Nations perspectives across Schools Plus’ work, including contributing to the organisation’s Reconciliation Action Plan and First Nations Advisory Group. Working alongside colleagues across programs, data and fundraising, the Advisor supports evidence-informed decision-making, partnership development and initiatives that strengthen educational opportunities for First Nations students and communities across Australia.
