Job Overview:

Fleet Capability Manager: Frisco, TX / Remote - The ideal candidate will be based in Frisco, TX but will consider candidates in other locations.

The Fleet COE Capability Manager leads strategic initiatives to standardize, optimize, and future-proof fleet and shop infrastructure across the KDP Beverage Operating Unit. Supporting approximately 200 technicians, 50 internal maintenance shops, 9 Regions, and 3 Business Units, this role focuses on operational capability—establishing nationwide shop standards, standardizing tooling and diagnostic equipment, building technician training frameworks, reducing 3rd-party repair reliance, and optimizing total cost of ownership (TCO) across Class 8 heavy-duty trucks, route delivery vehicles, trailers, material handling equipment (MHE), and light-duty assets.

In this role, you will act as a key execution leader within the Fleet COE, partnering closely with the Sr. Manager, Regional Fleet Managers, and Field Fleet Leadership to translate national capability strategy into standard frontline execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Work schedule (Monday–Friday, weekends, travel, etc.) Regular business hours, 30% travel, (50% travel during FMS implementation)
  • Typical start time and average workday: 8am-5pm with occasional off hours (keep in mind different time zones they support)

Shop Standardization & Infrastructure

  • Establish and roll out standardized maintenance procedures, shop layout designs, and safety protocols across 50 internal maintenance shops and external vendor networks.
  • Develop standardized tooling catalogs, diagnostic equipment specifications, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and capital equipment requirements across all shop locations.
  • Support the COE's "Shop of the Future" roadmap by evaluating and deploying digital shop workflow tools, shop automation, alternative fuel/EV readiness, and modern technician equipment.

Technical Capability & Workforce Development

  • Build technical training pathways, onboarding frameworks, and skill certification programs for frontline shop managers, fleet mechanics, and technicians across all asset types (heavy-duty, medium-duty, MHE, and class C units).
  • Partner with OEMs (e.g., Freightliner, Volvo, Peterbilt, Cummins etc.) and strategic suppliers to deliver technical upskilling on engine updates, software revisions, aftertreatment systems, and advanced diagnostic troubleshooting.
  • Monitor key shop performance indicators—including technician labor utilization, wrench time, repeat repairs, and bay turnaround times—to drive continuous productivity across regions.

Lifecycle Strategy & Asset Capability

  • Analyze fleet failure trends, component lifespans, and telematics data to recommend asset engineering modifications and refine future vehicle procurement specifications.
  • Partner with Procurement and Finance to build CapEx budgets for shop equipment, diagnostic tools, and internal shop capability conversions to minimize high-cost 3rd-party repair dependency.
  • Establish national standards for warranty recovery, campaign recall rollouts, and OEM technical dispute escalation.

Systems, Compliance & Field Activation

  • Serve as a core subject matter expert (SME) and field activation leader for the nationwide rollout of KDP’s new Fleet Maintenance System (FMS), with ongoing support for Geotab & Lytx telematics platform. Travel expected 50% 1st year for FMS deployment.
  • Ensure internal maintenance facilities adhere to DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, EPA, STATE/LOCAL and KDP safety, operational and environmental compliance standards.
  • Implement lean operational principles across shops to eliminate maintenance backlogs, optimize parts inventory levels, and streamline repair order workflows.

Total Rewards:
  • $86,000- $110,000 / year
  • Actual placement within the compensation range may vary depending on experience, skills, and other factors
  • Benefits, subject to eligibility, and collective bargaining agreements (where applicable): Medical, Dental and Vision, Paid Time Off, 401(k) program with employer match, Child & Elder Care, Adoption Benefits, Paid Parental Leave, Fertility Benefits, Employee Resource Groups, Breastmilk Shipping Services, Dependent Scholarship Program, Tuition Reimbursement, Education Assistance, Employee Assistance Program, Personalized Wellness Platform, Mileage Reimbursement and more!
  • Annual bonus based on performance and eligibility

Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Fleet Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field (or equivalent combination of technical credentials, master-level mechanic certifications, and extensive leadership experience).
  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive fleet maintenance, shop management, or fleet technical capability leadership across a multi-site national or regional network.
  • Technical Breadth: Deep technical knowledge of Class 8 tractors, medium-duty route trucks, beverage trailers, and warehouse Material Handling Equipment (electric/IC forklifts, yard spotters).
  • Fleet Systems: Hands-on experience with modern enterprise Fleet Maintenance Systems (TMT, FMS / CMMS) and telematics platforms (e.g., Geotab, Lytx, Microsoft Office Suite, Ryder/Penske platforms).
  • Leadership & Change Management: Proven track record of designing technical training programs, establishing shop standards, and driving adoption across decentralized field teams.
  • Industry Acumen: Strong understanding of fleet regulatory compliance (DOT/FMCSA), warranty management, capital budgeting, and vendor negotiation.
