Apple Moving is seeking an experienced and strategic Fleet Director to oversee and optimize our entire fleet operation across all company locations. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficiency, reliability, compliance readiness, and cost-effectiveness of our vehicles, equipment, and hauling operations.

The Fleet Director will work closely with the Safety Director to support company-wide safety initiatives, ensuring fleet operations align with established safety standards while maintaining a clear division of responsibilities. This role will partner directly with Branch Managers to drive consistency, accountability, and performance across all markets.

  • Standardize fleet policies, procedures, and best practices company-wide

Operations

  • Partner with the Safety Director to support compliance initiatives, inspections, and documentation readiness

Safety Collaboration (Non-Ownership)

  • Work in partnership with the Safety Director to align fleet operations with company safety programs
  • Support implementation of safety policies through fleet standards, equipment readiness, and operational practices
  • Assist in addressing fleet-related findings from safety audits and incident reviews
  • Provide operational input to improve driver safety, vehicle standards, and risk reduction strategies

Financial Management

  • Manage fleet-related budgets, including fuel, maintenance, leasing, and capital expenditures
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and improve ROI on fleet assets
  • Evaluate and negotiate vendor contracts (fuel, equipment, maintenance services)

Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner directly with Branch Managers across all locations to ensure consistent fleet standards and execution
  • Provide guidance, training, and accountability to branch leadership on fleet-related processes and expectations
  • Drive adoption of company-wide fleet initiatives at the branch level
  • Collaborate with operations, dispatch, safety, and executive leadership teams

Travel & Field Support

  • Travel as needed to company locations to audit, support, and optimize fleet operations
  • Provide hands-on leadership and support to Branch Managers during operational challenges or transitions

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary (based on experience)

  • Health, dental, and vision benefits
  • Paid time off and travel accommodations
  • Opportunities for growth

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of fleet management experience, preferably in moving, logistics, or transportation industries
  • Proven experience managing multi-location fleet operations
  • Experience working through field leadership (e.g., branch or general managers) rather than direct fleet teams
  • Strong understanding of DOT/FMCSA regulations (working knowledge; direct safety ownership not required)
  • Experience with fleet management systems (Fleetio), telematics (Samsara or Motive), and data analysis
  • Strong leadership and influence skills, with the ability to drive results without direct authority
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management experience
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
  • Willingness to travel regularly

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the moving and storage industry
  • CDL or familiarity with commercial driving standards
  • Experience in decentralized or multi-branch operational environments
  • Experience with Fleetio and Motive (fleet management and driver safety platforms) or similar telematics systems

What Success Looks Like

  • Improved fleet utilization and reduced downtime across all branches
  • Consistent fleet standards and execution across locations
  • Strong partnership with Branch Managers and Safety Director
