Grob Aircraft has been designing and building aircraft in Bavaria for decades, from trainers and composite airframes to some of the most advanced aeronautical structures in the world. Engineering excellence and precision manufacturing are what we do.
Together with Helsing, our parent company and Europe's leading defence AI company, we are now taking on our most ambitious programme yet: the CA-1 Europa, Europe's first AI combat aircraft. This is not a study or a roadmap. We are designing, building, and testing, right now, right here.
We are looking for a Flight Dynamics Engineer with focus on the aerodynamic database generation and development of the aircraft models, to allow for handling-qualities assessments, and support flight control development across simulation and test. You will work at the intersection of aerodynamics, performance, flight controls and flight test.
This role suits engineers with a strong applied aerodynamic foundation, whether your background is in CFD simulations, WT test or Flight Test analysis. What matters is that you understand how aircraft aerodynamic characteristics behave throughout the complete envelope and can model, analyze and improve it.
Key Responsibilities
Build, process and validate aerodynamic databases from CFD, wind tunnel and flight test data, including data fusion, smoothing and uncertainty quantification.
Perform model validation and verification (V&V), define acceptance criteria, and document model fidelity, limitations and applicability for downstream users.
Develop, implement and maintain high-fidelity flight dynamics models for fixed-wing aircraft, covering aerodynamics, propulsion, mass properties and flight controls.
Prepare and deliver technical artefacts for certification and qualification: model description documents, V&V reports, requirement traceability, test cases and supporting evidence for flight clearance.
Support handling-qualities assessments and model updates throughout the development cycle, from conceptual design to flight testing.
Experience & Qualifications
MSc (or equivalent) in Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Mechanical Engineering.
5+ years of professional experience in aerodynamic database generation, flight dynamics modelling or simulation development
Proven experience building, integrating and validating aerodynamic data from CFD, wind tunnel and flight test sources.
Strong theoretical foundation in aerodynamic modelling techniques and flight mechanics.
Understanding in Stability and Control / handling-qualities assessment.
Experience with wind-tunnel testing.
