About ILS

At Intelligent Legal Solutions (ILS), we're transforming how fund formation legal work gets done. Our flagship product, ProVision, is a legal tech SaaS platform that automates fund formation workflows for law firms and fund managers.
We're still early, but we have clear product–market fit, a deep understanding of our buyers and an ambitious roadmap. We operate at the intersection of law, private investment funds and workflow automation, and we're building the go-to platform for fund formation teams globally.
This is a rare opportunity to join a lean, high-calibre team that is seeing significant traction in the marketplace. The bar is high, the work is hands-on, and the impact on the company's growth, brand and revenue will be direct and visible.
We move fast, take ownership and stay close to our customers. We value clear thinking and simplicity over complexity. If you want to do the best work of your career in legal tech, we'd love to build with you.

The Role

We're looking for a Forward Deployed Counsel to work alongside the funds teams at our customer firms and make sure ProVision is part of how they run their side letter, comment memo and MFN workflows.
This is a customer-facing role for a funds lawyer, working closely with our Customer Success team, our Legal Technologists and Product.
You'll have the opportunity to shape how the world's leading fund formation teams adopt ProVision, and to bring what you learn from them directly into our product.
As ILS continues to grow, the role is likely to develop too, so we're looking for someone who is comfortable taking ownership, bringing ideas and getting involved.

What You'll Be Doing

Adoption at customer firms

  • Spend regular time in customer offices, running office hours and training sessions for funds lawyers.
  • Onboard new matters and set up ProVision around each firm's way of working.
  • Help teams build their MSLs, comment memos and MFN elections on the platform.
  • Track adoption at each firm and act where usage is low.

Customer relationships

  • Build strong relationships with partners, associates and knowledge and innovation teams.
  • Speak with funds lawyers regularly to gather feedback on ProVision.
  • Identify opportunities to extend ProVision to new teams and offices within existing customers.

Product feedback

  • Log feature requests and feedback through our feature intake process.
  • Test new features from a funds lawyer's perspective before release.
  • Help Product and Engineering understand how fund formation work is done in practice.

Working with the wider team

  • Work closely with Customer Success, Customer Support, our Legal Technologists and Product.
  • Share ideas and contribute to wider company priorities.
  • Help improve processes and ways of working as the business grows.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is an experienced funds lawyer, confident with senior lawyers and interested in technology, and comfortable working in a growing business where things are still being built.
You'll ideally have:
  • A legal qualification and experience in fund formation, ideally on the GP side at an international law firm.
  • A strong working knowledge of side letters, comment memos and the MFN process.
  • Confidence presenting to and training partners, associates and trainees.
  • Comfort learning and teaching new software.
  • The organisation to manage relationships across several firms at once.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to customer offices.
It would be great if you also have:
  • Experience in a knowledge, innovation or legal tech role.
  • Experience working with both UK and US funds teams.
  • Experience running training or client workshops.
You don't need to tick every box. If you have strong experience that you think is relevant to the role and it sounds like something you'd enjoy, we'd still like to hear from you.

What We Offer

We want people to do great work without losing sight of life outside of work.
For this role, our package includes:
  • c. £112,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • 25 days' annual leave, plus UK bank holidays.
  • Bupa private medical and dental cover following successful completion of probation.
  • Company pension through NEST, including employer contributions.
  • Performance-related bonus opportunity.
  • A flexible, hybrid working environment.
  • The opportunity to have a visible impact in a growing legal tech business.
  • A collaborative team with direct access to senior leadership and founders.
  • Plenty of opportunity to grow your role and responsibilities as ILS scales.
Benefits are subject to the applicable scheme rules and company policies and may be amended from time to time.

What the Interview Process Looks Like

We want the recruitment process to be straightforward and give you a good opportunity to get to know us too.
  1. Introductory call — A short conversation with the People team to talk through your experience, what you're looking for and the role.
  2. Hiring Manager interview — A conversation with the Head of Customer Success to explore your experience, approach to the role and how you work.
  3. Training exercise — A short session in which you take us through part of a side letter or MFN workflow as you would with a funds team. This shows us how you explain fund formation work and engage an audience of lawyers.
  4. Final conversation — A final conversation with relevant members of the ILS team and founders, giving you the opportunity to ask questions and get a better feel for the team, culture and direction of the business.
We'll keep you updated throughout the process and aim to give you clarity on next steps after each stage.
If you need a reasonable adjustment at any stage of the recruitment process, please let us know. We'll be happy to discuss what support you need.

A Little More About ILS

We're still growing, which means things can move quickly and not everything will always be perfectly defined.
We value people who take ownership, communicate clearly, ask questions and are willing to get involved. We care about doing good work, but we also believe in keeping things simple and practical.
You'll have the opportunity to work closely with people across the business and see the impact of your work directly.

Equal Opportunities

ILS is committed to providing an inclusive and fair recruitment process. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and make employment decisions based on skills, experience and suitability for the role.
We do not discriminate on the basis of any protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010. We are also committed to making reasonable adjustments throughout our recruitment process where required. Requests can be made by emailing hr@intelligentlegalsolutions.com.
If this sounds like the kind of role you'd enjoy, we'd love to hear from you.
